  so I was petting my French lop Harper and I felt a lump/bump on his lower backside. I am in the process of bonding him with another rabbit, so I thought maybe it was a nip bite? But the fact that it’s a lump, I’m not so sure? He’s acting completely normal but of course didn’t like me trying to see it and touch it. It doesn’t seem to be an open wound, no bleeding. Should I be concerned? Should I be applying hydrogen peroxide? He is 6 years old. Every day I’ll definitely look at it and make sure there’s no changes.

  It’s possible that it was a nip that is infected, thus swelling though the actual entry wound has closed. It could also be something separate. For rabbits, sometimes we will have small lumps from an ingrown hair or other innocuous reasons, while also there being lumps for serious reasons that need treatment. Since it’s impossible to diagnose online, the judgment is best made by a rabbit-savvy vet. That being said, it being constant/unchanging or going away are definitely more positive. If you opt for veterinary assessment, I would definitely share that you are bonding rabbits.

  it’s hard, I try looking this things up online “bite wound” “lesion” “swelling” on rabbits and it’s impossible to find any pictures to compare it to. My vet is full this Saturday so he’ll be going on the 13th. Every day I’ll be checking to make sure the size, shape, etc hasn’t changed. I hope he’s okay.
  
  I’m not going to lie, I am extremely nervous about putting anything on it. The wound is dry, no blood, honestly just no hair in that spot and just swollen. I know in the picture it kinda looks white in the middle, it doesn’t look like pus or anything. It just looks like dry/healed over skin. I think I might just leave it alone and monitor it..
  
  Does anybody think I should hold off on the bunny dates for now? I’m worried now, they do nip sometimes and I would be so paranoid if my other rabbit were to nip him again in the same spot. That would be so painful and not worth the risk 😥 I think I’m definitely going to hold off on that for now.

  Is it underneath the skin? If so, then I agree with Wick. It’s possible a bite wound got infected or formed a small abscess.

  Yea it’s under the skin 😥 ugh, now I’m worried. Harper is impossible to give medicine to so I wonder how this is gonna go. I’m gonna take pictures every day and if it gets any worse or bigger then I’m gonna try for a sooner appointment.

  So I got an update. The vet isn’t sure what the growth is but he doesn’t think it’s a bite because there’s no bite mark and he says it looks more vascular. I paid to get it tested. We talked possible outcomes, if it ended up being bad and needs to be removed it could be like $500-700 Canadian. I’m assuming it would be more because he wasn’t even sure of the price.
  
  My boyfriend said the vet took 4 samples and apparently each one was different. The first one had pus, the vet said it could be tumor related- or it could be like an abscess. Hard to tell. Blood came out which he said was a good thing, it means he’s got blood supply. Tumours usually don’t get blood so that’s good.
  They’ll call me with the results in a week. 😐

  So for anybody whose interested- Harper has a trichoblastoma. A benign tumour that is slow growing and doesn’t typically spread.
  
  The vet wants $1075.00 CAD to remove it. Which I am not going to do, I will be monitoring it instead. He is turning 7 in December, they did mention there is a risk with surgery due to his age and being put under anaesthesia. So even if I could afford it, I don’t think I would consider risking it anyways- price aside.
  I plan to keep him as happy and as comfortable as possible.
