        Hi everyone,

My bunny Apple and I just finished our second (essential – no fun here!) road trip together. It was a long one, and she was a little spooked after. When she finally got settled at home and was up to hopping in her litter box, the first poops that came out were super small and deformed which I know can be a sign of stasis, but shortly after she started producing mostly normal sized ones, with a small one here and there. Do I need to take her to the emergency vet ASAP? Or do I monitor and see if the size fully returns to normal??

        Thank you all!!

          Hi!

Poops going from small to big is a good thing! The small poops probably came from the stress of travel. What we dont want to see is poops getting smaller and smaller, but in your case, it seems like she’s on her way back to having normal sized poops again.

As a rule it takes longer for poops to become perfectly formed again after a gut slowdown, than it took for the poops to become small, if that makes sense. So you may be seeing oddly shaped poop now for a few days or a week. If she’s eating and doing her normal activities, this should right itself without any intervention,  especially if she is a good hay eater.
