Does anyone know if there is virtual vet appointments available anywhere? I have a question about my rabbit’s eye issue and no one at the vet’s office could give me advice unless we have a visit. The only visit is over a week away.

Maybe more context might be helpful. I’m very new here. I’ve had pet rabbits in the past, but this past week I rescued a rabbit that someone abandoned in my neighborhood. She is very sick with ear infection, the start of overgrown teeth (causing eye issues), ear mites, bumble feet, malnourished, weak hind legs, and matting that had to be shaved. We have been to the ER and to the regular vet. Quality of life was discussed and because she’s eating, getting around, and getting better we have decided to move forward with care.

She is on pain medication, eye drops, ear drops, oral antibiotics, and probiotics. She’s loves the oral  medication, tolerates the eye drops, and hates the ear drops.

That being said, she has one eye where her eye boogers/tear staining is causing her to lose a lot of fur. We’ve been wiping away her boogers with a warm wash cloth, but I’m worried about her losing too much fur.

I’m not aware of anyone doing virtual appointments. You could try asking your regular vet. My guess though is if anyone is doing virtual appointments, they probably don’t specialize in rabbits.

She is on medication. How long has she been getting them? It does take time, especially if the infection is bad. I wouldn’t worry too much about fur around the eye being lost. It isn’t the end of the world and the fur will likely grow back once her infection is cleared and her teeth are addressed.
