Hi all, long time forum lurker here and I must say this forum helped me a lot!
Backstory: I rescued a stray bunny 2 weeks ago, there were a bunch outside where I am. After bringing her to the vet, did an xray and the vet palpated her, she was pregnant.
Fast forward to last night, she gave birth to 2 stillborn babies unfortunately. And she ate the body of one of them (I saw the head remaining there).
I called the vet and she said it’s normal for bunnies to do this and so on. I don’t know much about this and I don’t know how much I can trust the vet.
Is this act normal? Will eating the dead baby harm the mom? Also, the mom has been having contractions or is “pushing” a lot. She still bleeds. I am bringing her to the vet after tomorrow (covid has the neared vet closed where I’m at and other vets don’t know anything about bunnies).
Is it possible there’s another bunny inside her? I’m panicking and don’t know what to do, I never had a pregnant bunny before. I have 4 bunnies but all were separated and spayed/neutered.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
