  Hello! So my bunny is molting right now and I am not sure if its normal to do so at this time of year. I live in Colorado and its still summer! I’ve read some where that they molt in the fall and spring and also molt every 3 months but this one is really noticeable like the ones in the fall and the spring. Thank you

  It makes sense to me since it’s very hot, the less fur, the better! I know some owners may propose their rabbits are just always molting, haha.

  Yeah i guess it is pretty hot. Thank you! 🙂 Oh also is there anything i can do to help her? i can’t brush her because she’s a mini rex and they have extremely delicate fur( but its nice and velvety).

  I’ve had success getting hair off with a lint roller, and I remember a previous member who onwned a rex saying this worked well for them as well!
  
  Just rub a new sheet on your clothes a few times before rolling it over your bunny so it isn’t too sticky.

  You could try hand-pulling if your bunny can handle it. Sometimes I pet my bunny and pull out some of the loose fur while he’s relaxed.

  Yes I’ve been doing both!@thorbunny I was worried about the lint roller but I think if i rub it on my clothes(why didn’t i think of that!) it should be fine thank you!
  
  @louiethebunny thank you I’ve been doing just that but she HATES it i feel so bad doing it but it really helps, but when i do it on her face she likes it?!? she must think of it as a face pet

  I love lint rollers! I should take out stock in them because they are my new favorite grooming tool. lol
  
  I think they work really well on rex fur. A member posted about them a while back: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/molting-made-easy-for-fine-fur-lint-roller/
  
  There is also this grooming tool called the kong groom zoom that has really soft rubber that seems like it would work for sensitive bunny skin. I also like soft bristle brushes. 🙂

  Mine is also shedding right now and I’m not gonna lie I’m kinda freaking out a little. He usually sheds evenly but this time he’s lost a lot fast in one spot and has a “bald” spot (not fleshy but lost all the froofy froof in that spot) but the rest seems more or less normal. I’m wondering if the smoke in the air from the fires here (Ontario) has him stressed since it’s a new experience? Or maybe his shedding pattern is changing because he’s getting to be an old man now? (He turned 7 in March) I hope he’s okay 🙁

    I’m in an area in the western US where the smoke is BAD right now, and every summer, and I haven’t noticed any abnormal fur problems nor have the 2 people I know with bunnies mentioned it either. I would definitely be more concerned with resperitory problems when the smoke is heavy.

  A rabbit can molt in patches and get temporary bald spots as as a consequence, without anything being wrong with the rabbit.
  
  Smoke in the air could be harmful though, rabbits have delicate little lungs. It is of course harmful for humans too.
