Hormones can change a lot, like what seems like “bonded” behaviors. Wick liked his other parent more than me prior to his neuter, but now he definitely loves me more, haha. That could be a time and exposure piece as well though, not solely hormones.
A part of me wonders if your rabbit understands that the chest is attached to your husband, as opposed to something that just smells like him. The human body is incredibly large, so I imagine with a rabbit’s vision, it’s hard to conceptualize that all our limbs and such are a part of the same being. This is purely my opinion, but I know Wick prefers cuddling with my face over my hands, and some times wants nothing to do with my hands by will just chill next to my face, as if he doesn’t understand I’m all the same person, regardless of what body part it is. Rabbits dig to create a nook for relaxing at times, so she may not realize she’s digging at your husband constantly.
