My rabbit won’t eat! He ate some hay this afternoon (somewhere around 4 or 5 hours ago?) and was excited for veggies when I brought them in, though unfortunately, I didn’t end up seeing if he ate any of the veggies or not (he has a partner who could have eaten all of them). I never leave the room while they’re eating veggies, just to make sure that they are both eating. But this time I did and of course, this is the time when something goes wrong!
I did manage to get him to eat a couple of pellets and a few bites of hay, but only barely.
So, of course, I immediately tried to find a vet that would take him. But all of the exotic vets are closed (it is past 11:00 pm here) and the only emergency vet nearby said that they don’t have a doctor in that will see rabbits! I’m still searching to see if I can find anyone around that will see him, but I also wanted to try posting here for some advice.
Does anybody know how I should handle this? These are my first rabbits and I’ve only had them for a little over a month, so I’m incredibly inexperienced. I’ve done lots of research, of course, but everything I’ve seen says to take them to the vet immediately. will he be okay until morning, or do I need to find someone to take him to tonight, even if that means subjecting him and his partner to an hour (or more) in the car? Is there anything I can do at home that will help him for now?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
