        Hello everyone,

I go by Sumi and I’m happy to be here!

I’ll start off by talking about my previous rabbit Blinky. He passed away two months ago from GI stasis and it was horrible. I loved Blinky so much, it’s really difficult for me to explain how much he meant to me. I have some of his ashes in a necklace pendant that I wear every day.

I got Blinky when he was a tiny baby with a bad eye infection. He was being given away as a feeder because his breeder thought no one would ever want him due to the issue with his eye. I took him to the vet and got his health issues cleared up in a matter of weeks. He was partially blinded in that eye but was otherwise a happy and healthy bunny. He had such a wonderful calm personality and we were very closely bonded with each other. After losing Blinky I thought I might never get another rabbit because it was so incredibly painful to lose him and I know first hand how delicate and unpredictable their lives can be. Blinky was a holland lop/harlequin cross.

Then a few days ago I found someone who was trying to rehome a baby harlequin rabbit. I was told the baby was only 7-8 weeks old and had been separated from its mother far too early at 5-6 weeks of age. The bunny didn’t have the correct markings for being shown so was being offered up as “dog food.” A local woman decided to take the bunny (and possibly some siblings) in and try to rehome them as pets, and that’s how I ended up bringing home my new rabbit named Doppler

Knowing Blinky was part harlequin made me extra sweet on the breed, and once I saw a picture of little Doppler there was no way I couldn’t bring him home. So welcome Doppler! I’ve only had him for two days but it really feels like he’s been with me longer somehow. He’s super smart, confident, and full of energy. He’s so good at eating his hay! And he loves to play and be social. He’s even great at using litter boxes and he’s just a tiny baby.

I weighed him this morning and he came in at 2lbs 3oz. I can’t wait to watch him grow and continue learning <3 So please enjoy some adorable pictures of Doppler!

I totally empathize with your post! I lost a bunny in January and really thought at that moment that I’d NEVER get another bunny. But I’m already glad that I didn’t stick to that feeling! Have a great time with your new baby! [BTW, it might just be me, but I can’t see the adorable pics]

Hello Sumi so sorry to hear about Blinky. My bun Flakie passed away in January with GI problems too he was almost 10 years old. It’s so heartbreaking they are such delicate creatures.

Congratulations on your new bunny Doppler it’s great that you are giving him a loving home. I too decided to get other bunnies and adopted Basil and Holly from a rescue centre a few weeks ago. I’m so glad I went ahead and I love them already but still miss my other bunnies.

I wish you lots of happy times with Doppler .

Like professorzap I can’t see your pictures of Doppler.
