Hello! It should be perfectly fine. I’ve had 2 newborns in the house since i got my bunnies and neither have been in the least bit affected. Not at all. They play in the same areas rabbits have been, one grew up and plays with them daily, feeds them, he’s TOTALLY fine. I don’t think this should be a problem at all.

Forum leader Little Puffy Tail already had two buns when she had her baby. The baby is a toddler now. LPT still has bunnies.

It’s still a hypothesis though. And some kids will develop allergies even if exposed, so it’s not a fail safe method for preventing allergies.

Hello! What an exciting time! As Bam mentioned, I have a 3 1/2 year old and 2 bunnies. One of my buns was around when we brought her home from the hospital. She is amazing with the bunnies and they love her too. It was a lot of work when she was a baby, for sure, but worth it.

As for allergies, I don’t really know much about allergies but I’ve never had allergies nor my husband. As soon as Evi was born she was exposed to bunnies and hay, cats and horses (well, I think she was about a week before she met our horse. ) and she is fine.  But from what I’ve read of allergies, early exposure is better. There are DRs who are telling Moms to introduce peanuts much earlier than a few years ago. More kids are becoming allergic because parents are keeping them away from it so long.
