Hi all!

My husband and I have been worried for over a week about the state of our little girl. She is an 11 month old Mini-Rex.

Over 1 week ago she stopped eating and was not acting her normal sassy self. We took her to a 24-hour vet and she was diagnosed with the early stages of GI Statis. She was given a injection for hydration and prescribed a ton of medicines including Simethicone, GI Motility, a pain reliever, 2 antibiotics and an antacid as well as Critical Care for forced feedings. She is a good girl and didn’t fight me too much on the medicine and forced feedings.

A few days after all these medicines there still wasn’t much change so we took her for a second opinion and the new vet took her off all the medicine except Simethicone. The vet there also trimmed her teeth. That was 5 days again now.

I have still been giving her Simethicone everyday – every 12 hours and Critical care once in a while, but today we decided to not give her any Critical Care and see where her appetite is at. Basically, she will nibble a piece of hay or 2 (orchard, botanical, timothy, oat varieties), won’t touch her pellets, has small amounts of parsley (her favourite) and will have 1 treat maximum. She usually devours her pellets and treats as well as hay, she usually has a very healthy appetite. It seems like she wants to eat but won’t. She has also been chewing on our baseboards and drywall which is immediately discouraged.

My husband and I are losing sleep and worrying constantly about her. We need some advice to ease our anxiety.
