I recently had to do a long distance move in the car. It was three days and three nights of driving and staying at hotels in the middle. Right now we are staying two weeks at company housing until we can move into the house.
And my bunny took it like a champ!!!!!

I was worried. So very very horribly worried in between two days of movers (who he couldn’t have cared much about either. When a person took apart my bed his cage is next to he was alert and just sniffed and parascoped and sniffed at them.) And the trip and staying in hotels.

He’s literally fine. He’s been peeing on the bed, trying to destroy everything, and honking at me because it’s spring and baby’s.

I took him in a cat carrier with towels and dishrags on the bottom and those hay and alfafa cubes in his cage and treats. At stops I put in his water bowl, he drank more at night when I set up his tiny cage that I took down and repacked in the morning.

I kept him next to me on the floor. I wasn’t driving. He didn’t drink too much the first three days but I got his head wet to keep him cooler when I could. He ate and drank less but didn’t stop.

Being at the hotels I let him run with me on the bed because the beds are high and hotels aren’t bunny proof but he seemed okay with that.

Now we are here he’s eating and drinking a ton and I’m so proud of him. He dealt with the trip much better than I did. He’s blinkied around. He’s making happy noises cleaning himself.

I just wanted to post this here because I couldn’t find much on it. The car trip was 19 hours driving wise (with stops obviously took much longer). I hope this helps others know it might be okay with their bun and moving. They are stronger than we think sometimes.

If anyone has questions let me know

Going to add I had the pet carrier and then a pet cage. It’s a fold down easy assemble one. It’s maybe twice the size of his carrier and had a litter box in it.

His sore hock has flared up some. But it isn’t getting worse.

I brought litter but couldn’t use it in the carrier because he likes to eat it -_-
I brought real fresh hay but he didn’t eat it in the car just the cubes it was too much to clean every night so I just used cubes.

Every night I cleaned out the carrier I had towels and rags I would was and some I dried to rotate.

I know they need access to fresh water but the bowl made it more cramped in the carrier (he’s the size of a large cat so yeah…) and he really wasn’t drinking much in the car just at night. He would drink from my hands a few times. He has fresh water now obviously in his bowls.

I brought those cubes. I brought a snack shack log that’s his current food bowl.

I’d love to use a bigger cage but it wouldn’t fit in the car but he’s been okay with a smaller one. Most people wouldn’t have to wait two weeks before they move in to a house anyway.

The second moving day he was pretty annoyed he didn’t want to cuddle much then or the third day but he’s okay now. Understandable.

Glad your trip went well! I’ve got a long move coming up this summer and it’s helpful to know how others managed thier moves.
