Cadbury was given to me by a man that claims that the momma rabbit died. He said he have 4 babies that he’d be willing to give me. I do rescue on the side, baby kittens and dogs mainly, so these we re gonna be my first baby rabbits. I left and by the time I got there only one baby remained. He gave them way to people! When he handed Cadbury to me he was cold and crying for momma. He’s only a few days old because his eyes are still shut. I put him in my shirt and rushed to get some KMR. I messaged a local rehabber who told me instructions to follow. This whole time we are thinking he’s a domestic bunny. Fast forward Cadbury is now a month old and not a domestic bunny. He’s a desert cottontail! I contact the guy mad and he informed me he shot the mom and found the babies after. He’s too tame for release so I’m in process to get a permit to have him. I would love to learn more about baby bunnies and their growths. Please share you baby bunny stories (even better if their cottontail stories.)
Was the guy legally hunting rabbits or did he shoot the mom intentionally?
That’s so sad, but at least Cadbury was saved and has a good home/foster now.
I think he was killing for fun which I called a report d when I started to suspect. Police said they’d look into it. I’m happy I got him but sad the other babies probably weren’t so lucky.

SQUEEEEE! Cuteness overload…That guy sounds like a real *******. Odd that he would do something like that but yet take the time to grab the baby buns to give away.
I think he killed the mom and then found them and felt bad. I’m not sure but either way he was in the wrong. :/
He’s so adorable! He looks so happy and healthy! I’m happy for you that he gets to stay with you. He has to have a bond with you since you have raised him from so young.
I thought he was a mouse! So cute ![]()
Oh my goodness, what a heartbraker!
I’m so glad he found his way to you ![]()
He is sooooo cute!!!
That’s just heartbreaking about Momma.
I hate hunters….
What a precious guy! Looking forward to seeing more updates

Cadbury is going on almost 6 weeks now and is still a complete cuddle bug. He’s growing everyday and his personality is beginning to shine through. He’s a stubborn little dude and likes things his way and his way only. We are still working on potty training so any advice in that area would be appreciated.
Squeeeee! He’s so adorable!
And so tiny! And fast! lol
So unexpectedly my Husband’s Grandpa has taken a turn for the worse
We are making the long 6ish hour drive, with Cadbury, and I’m nervous. He’s a pretty easy going boy but this will be his first car ride and I’m worried. He loves his carrier so I’m hoping it keeps him calm. It also is pretty big so he can hop around a bit. He’s going on seven weeks and lively as ever. He loves to hop around and explore. He’s got a loving and sassy personality to go with his cute lil face.

That’s sad…
I hope things go as well as they can, given the circumstances. (((Cadbury)))
Our trip up to our grandparents went great and he was an absolute angel. Not only did he just flop and chill the whole car ride but he actually was very social! I’ve been working on a new hutch and am almost done. We are struggling with potty training so any advice you may have I’d appreciatever it. Picture of hutch and Cadbury coming up in a few.
Before and after
Wow, the remodel of that cabinet into his hutch is amazing! ![]()
He’s gorgeous!
Oh wow! That looks amazing! ![]()
I rescued a wild bunny back in the summer. He wouldn’t tame down though so I raised him to be able to release and let him go. It broke my heart because I loved having him but he just wouldn’t tame. He looked a lot like Cadbury!
He’s grown a lot since I last posted a picture so I thought I’d share.
As for taming he does have a wild bunny attitude at time but has tamed down. He follows me around and enjoys humans way to much to ever be released. But we are struggling with potty training still. I know I’ve asked before but I’ll ask again. If you have any potty training advice I’d appreciate it.
I can’t really offer any advice because Tony always pooped/peed in the same place so I just put the litterbox there until he learned to use it, but if you make a thread in the behaviours tab you might get some help?
