Hello everyone! I’d like to introduce Wick: He is a 3m. old Netherland Dwarf Rabbit, the runt of his litter. He is a solo, indoor rabbit.
At 9w old, Wick went to the vet for sneezing— he constantly sneezed, had sneeze attacks of 10+, and had nasal/eye discharge very frequently. Sneezing worsened while he ate and after running. Wick started on Bactrim, switched to Baytril after no improvement, and takes Baytril (showed mild improvement), plus injected penicillin (x1/three days). The penicillin markedly reduced his sneezing immediately. Since his first tx, Wick gets probiotic powder twice daily so his gut bacteria stay healthy and plentiful! Outside of medical treatments, switching from Kaytee to Oxbow Timothy Hay and placing a screen mesh on litter boxes also reduced his sneezing.
Despite (literal) daily syringe-feeding of medicine and needle injections, Wick is extremely sociable and trusting. He’s very vocal (oink and chirp noises), but they’re always happy noises. Luckily, he is a happy camper when held and pet, so both syringe-fed and injection medicine administration is very easy.
BinkyBunny has been very helpful so far with any issues that have come up. I look forward to what else is in store. Feel free to ask any questions about Wick’s lifestyle, and I’ll be sure to ask questions as I have them as well. Wick is not my first rabbit, but he’s already quite different.
