Just looked through the bunny’s litter boxes and found about 4 cecotropes. I don’t usually see any and I’m not sure what bun is the culprit. I’ve called my vets for advice and am waiting for a call back.

They both eat a good amount of hay, although I did think they haven’t eaten as much today (the pair of them) but of course as soon as I spoke to the vets, they both started munching away  Both have greens every day and pellets. The only change is I gave them some parsnip for the first time yesterday. Could that be it?

Edit: It appears to be Buttercup producing the excess cecals as she’s just hopped out of the litter box and left two more.

2nd edit: So, the excess cecals stopped, Buttercup’s appetite was back to normal, she was quite active, BUT she wasn’t doing many normal poops. Took her to the emergency vets who examined her and said she can’t hear any movement in her tummy but there is food in there, I. E. It’s impacted slightly/blocked. They gave her a metacam injection and a couple others to stimulate her gut so we should expect fresh poops by morning.

Buttercup has been to the vets and examined again – the vet said her tummy feels smaller (not as blocked?) but it’s still a bit dough-ey so she thinks she’s made an improvement but needed a bit more help. She said her gut is making some sounds but not enough, so she’s had another round of injections (metacam, ranitidine and empirid?) We’ve also got some oral ranitidine and empirid to give her tomorrow. The vet also syringe fed her some water and showed us how to do it w/o choking poor Butter Bean. She’s not very happy with us at the moment but she’s active so that’s a good sign.

I wasn’t able to take Peanut with her and since she’s been back he’s sniffed her a bit, gave her one lick (lol) and they’ve laid together.

It seems like you got a great treatment-plan for her. And she has her little fiancé (they’re too young to be married yet I think?), that’s great too. I hope she’ll be a lot better tomorrow!

They’d get married tomorrow if they could, cute little love bugs!

She’s actually just done a couple of poops so I’ve got high hopes for her. She’s eaten a lot of hay too since she got back. And she’s being very sassy, I. E. Kicking her back legs in disgust at me and my partner

I just hope she’ll be better tomorrow! She seems to have forgiven me as she isn’t kicking her legs at me now lol and she has knocked down her tower of stacking cups (she likes to knock them down whilst I’m stacking them ) Her appetite is pretty great and she’s even drank a bit from her bowl. And she’s been groomed a couple times by Peanut. I’m just worried as she seemed to improve drastically after her injections yesterday and then of course went downhill again today. Really glad her tummy feels better though! Her temperature was good too.

She’s doing good so far! She has eaten quite a lot of hay (much closer to her normal amount) AND pellets. She wasn’t interested in pellets yesterday. She’s also drank, pooped plenty and is much more active. Well, now she’s resting but she was active earlier. She also took her medicine – though I cheated and put it on some romaine lettuce but she ate it!

Should I also give her some Simethicone? I’ve got some Infacol which says 40mg Simethicone per 1 ml suspension.

If she’s eating well, I’d say no need for simethicone.

I’d like to report that my darling Buttercup has made a full recovery  She has been pooping as normal for the last couple days, eating everything she possibly can lol (hay, veggies, pellets, dried dandelion etc) And she has certainly been more active, she’s been binky-ing and running/jumping around, being a pain in the butt trying to get into the pantry and she has been relaxing more in the middle of the room again rather than staying just under the sideboard. I am elated!!  She is back to being her cheeky self and I couldn’t be happier. I’m sure Peanut is just as thrilled although she jumped and landed on his head yesterday
