Was she taken out the back to have her nails clipped? Perhaps they caught the quick? This is easily done in bunnies if they’re wriggly but obviously incredibly painful for the bun – think about when you accidentally catch down to your nail bed. It usually causes bleeding from the nail. She maybe needs more time to recover emotionally and physically. She’s probably just really scared. It may be easier to clip her nails at home in the future?

I find it really odd that the vet didn’t allow you to go in. What’s up with that? Maybe they did catch the quick or something as Brambino suggested.

I’m so sorry to hear she was so traumatized! I always insist they treat my rabbit in front of me. Unless it’s something like an x-ray that cannot be moved. Syringe feeding nail clipping sub q fluids can all be administered in front of the parent. Maybe it’s a little paranoid, but reasonable vets should always accommodate. It’s also better to see how they handle your rabbit. Have you checked her all over for wounds?

My vet always and I repeat, always cuts the nails front of me and they never told me to leave from the room except surgeries and other stuff.

My vet did this too, took my rabbit out of the room and then brought her back. It was strange.

Dorothy always acts a bit tramautized after we take her out and put her in the car, ie not as playful and more nervous. She does not enjoy car rides. Maybe it was the ride or being taken out of Peanut’s environment? But my bun always goes back to normal the next day.
