Hello, I have been browsing this website for the past few months and figured I should finally join.

My name is Theresa and I am from Northern Illinois. I had a bunny named Thumper when I was a little kid and then a bunny unexpectedly came into my life again on October 1st! Meet Bunnicula.

Unfortunately I do not know how old he is or really anything about his life prior to October. My uncle found him roaming the streets of Chicago and tried to find his owners while Bunnicula temporarily lived in my Grandpa’s backyard. After the owner search failed, he asked me if I wanted to take him home with me. This city bun became a ((spoiled)) country bun! He is a sweetie and an attention whore. He brought my family a lot of laughter and joy on Christmas as he binkyed around the yard over and over.  He has a “sister” named Hocus who happens to be a cat. <3

This website has been a huge help! When I had Thumper, Google didn’t exist so my toddler-self didn’t really know what I was doing!

Welcome poxsevod!! I joined recently as well and this website has been of great help.

Did you take him to the vet? I think they can tell how old they are (I’m not sure, though).

          Hugs!

first 2 pics look like he is still growing to fit his ears, unless that’s clever photography! that points to him still being juvenile?

3 of our buns were caught loose too, I’m glad Bunnicula found a good home with you

Welcome what a cutie he is!
I agree that he is still growing to fit his ears – so I would say around age 1 … and I would say a New Zealand white cross -possibly with Flemish giant
How big is he? I can tell he is big but has he been weighed?
To me he looks like he still will fill out a bit – stock up as apposed to get any longer which my Flemish did between age 1-1.5years old
He is very cute and I’m glad he found you

Hi! It looks like Bunnicula definitely prefers the country life – huge yard, snow – but warm and comfy indoor amenities.

eek, I haven’t been back in quite awhile!! Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! He is letting all the compliments go to his head. :p

That would make a lot of sense about him growing into his ears!! The first two photos were within a day or so of having him in October and the third photo was from when I made this topic back in December. He has for sure grown since then!! I have not weighed him, but I should dig the scale out of the attic to see.

He is loving his spoiled life so much haha. He went from the city streets to five acres!

As for a background story to his name, I named him after one of my favorite book series by James Howe.
