So I recently(and very suddenly) came to own a little bunny. I believe she’s a Netherland Dwarf, but as she’s a rescue I’m not really sure. She had been neglected for some time when I got her, the woman who had her was keeping her in a dog crate and hadn’t cleaned it in so long it was like chipping cement off the bars… I’ve gotten her into a new, big cage now, and she’s doing very well.
1. Rabbit name: Lilly
2. Rabbit Age: Between 2 and 3 years
3. How long has your bunny been with you? About a week
4; Spayed/Neutered? I was told she’s spayed, but I don’t have any vet records.
5. Rabbit Personality Traits: When I first got Lilly, she was a very anxious, fearful, and defensive girl who would cower in the back of her cage and growl every time the door was opened. I didn’t even know rabbits could growl! Since moving her into her new home and spending time with her each day, she’s really blossomed. She’s very affectionate and loves to be pet, and she’s now eagerly eating out of my hand. She’s very particular about her cage and where her things are at, so she still grunts at me if I try to move her toys, but she doesn’t lunge and scratch like she used to.

1. Are you new to rabbits or have you been a bunny slave for a long while now? I’m somewhere in between. I had rabbits as a kid, first one little black rabbit I called Stormy and then a pair called Babs and Buster, but I wasn’t experienced enough with rabbits to know what to do with Lilly when I first got her; I had to do some research.
2. What made you choose to have a rabbit companion in your life? As I said earlier, Lilly was a sudden rescue. I know the woman who used to have her, so I knew the situation she was in. When she was offered to me, I couldn’t say no. I knew she could be more than the terrified growler she was.
3. Anything else that you’d like to share – I’m mostly about my animals. That’s why Lilly was offered to me; I have a habit of taking in unwanted and neglected animals and rehabilitating them. I’m currently caring for two cats, a bearded dragon, a hamster, a fish, and now a lovely bunny.
