Rabbit Personality Traits Crafty – she seems to enjoy negative attention
Kristy is our first bunny. She is primarily my daughter’s but she lives in my art studio so we spend a lot of time together. She currently has a large pen, but she started out living outside in a small storage building we got just for her. We had a long heat wave and she’s been in so long we decided she should stay. I am planning to bring her hutch in and use the pen to pen her out of danger areas instead of penning her in because aside from the current arrangement, she has found a way to escape every way I have put the pen, either finding something to move to hop on top of and out or using “brute strength” lol she’s only 3.5 lbs. but she manages to push the whole apparatus around sometimes. I expect to find her out of the new arrangement where she wants to go any day now, she already woke me up at 5 am nosing around in my bed since the current arrangement and I can’t figure out how she got there, she just hasn’t done it again I guess because she realized there was nowhere else she could get to from there. She is also very interested in my work area when I am working and will dump water and try to get into paint to get my attention, she has even grabbed the artwork and tried to drag it away while I was working. Of course once she has my attention she runs under the bed and starts the whole thing over again. She has litter trained herself pretty much, I haven’t seen anything out of the litter box in a few weeks now, once I closed the pen when I let her out and she rattled the bars to let me know to open it so she could go in and use the litter. We had no idea she would be so interesting to have as a pet.

OK so I got a photo to upload. She lays around like that sometimes, I read they can do this because of stomach issues or gas but she doesn’t have any she just seems to like this and also being on her side crashed out completely after a lot of running and jumping.

Hello there and welcome to the wonderful world of bunny ownership (slave-dom). It’s amazing how much trouble they can get into when you turn away for just a moment. She sure sounds like a real character. Q8 is correct that he pose is the superbun pose
A rabbit with gas tends to sit on their hind legs, with front feet stretched out a bit, this arches the back in a downwards curve pressing the tummy on the floor. They also shift around a lot like they’re trying to get comfortable but can’t (because they can’t). I’m glad she’s settled in well and that you decided to keep her inside, it’s really the best and most rewarding way to go

KG: He’s actually not too bad. Normally I brush him at least once a week (I keep one of those plastic palm detangling brushes near his favourite rug and try to catch him when we’re nuzzling). During moults, his skin gets really sensitive so he won’t tolerate the brush. Instead, I pluck him whenever he’s at arm’s length and once a week I use a lint roller on him.
Regarding the laundry basket, *sigh* it must be a house bunny thing, because Chewie also loves to help “fluff up” the fresh laundry while I’m folding. lol
