Hi
Just joined today as I have adopted (or been adopted by) two young bunnies, both girls. Both were rescued from nearby gardens, one two months ago, one last week. Neither have been claimed, so I have kept both at the request of the RSPCA, who are already over-run with bunnies needing home, and asked was there any chance I could keep them. Both girls are small, so probably dwarf/dwarf mix.
We caught Gina early June, and apart from being underweight, she was in good form and soon settled in. My eldest son did spot a black bunny around the same time, but we couldn’t find it again, and feared the worst. However, last week, we saw, and were eventually able to capture, a dark grey bunny, of similar build to Gina. We think it is the same one my son saw, and its likely they came from the same place, but after two months apart, they are not a bonded pair, if they ever were.
We have called the second one Jenny. She is also underweight, and is quick to put the front paws up, when anyone comes near, which isn’t surprising. She has started to learn than when I come near, and whistle, it means something nice to eat, and she is still constantly hungry, so that is helping her to be a little less aggressive.
The RSPCA have arranged for them to be spayed by Gina’s vet on Thursday, then hopefully they can be bonded over time.
I already have a pair of house lops, both boys. Ideally, they can all at least get along by winter, so they can share the house amicably!
