› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › WELCOME ! › Good morning from Meeko and I!
Hello all.
I thought I’d join a forum regarding rabbits so I can share my enthusiasm for mine with people who understand. Meeko (the raccoon from Pocahontas, means little mischief) is a 7 week old angora rabbit. She’s pure white, red eyes (but the iris is blue tinted!). I volunteer at a pet store twice a week to play and help out, and this is the mama rabbits 3rd (accidental) litter. I held meeko from birth, everytime I would come to the pet store i’d pick her up and she’d nestle into my boobs, or inbetween my sports bra and shirt while I did worked or sat and chatted. Mama rabbit decided after 2 and a half ish weeks that she didn’t want to nurse babies anymore, so the pet store owner separated the babies from the mom, and bottlefed. I was going to take Meeko home (I had claimed her since day 1, because she was the only white one we have ever had!) but Mama magically decided to feed one last time.. so I waited until 3+ weeks of age (the next time I came) to take her home. I gave her every other day benebac, only fed her alfalfa and a bit of pellet food. She is doing great! I love being able to see her evolve. I’ve watched her explore, and then around 6 weeks she decided she has to taste everything (books, plants, the couch, notecards, my hair, the box, the papers, an oreo – which is a story for later) and now she climbs up on everything with ease. Including on top of her cage to eat the bag of alfalfa open! She runs around often during the day when I am home, I have also taken her to the store with me, and to visit family. So that’s the story !
Side note: We are working on potty training, but it isn’t going as easy as I suspected it would have been. She goes in the potty box, but also outside of it, inside of her sleeping box, and often a whole bunch of poo on the floor and couch when she’s running around! Gah! She peed on my arm/bed the other day. Suggestions?

Hi Kailyn! Welcome to BB!
I just wanted to let you know that I removed 2 of the pictures from your post. Please don’t take this the wrong way, I was just worried because I didn’t know if you were a minor or not. So I removed the 2 that appeared to show Meeko in your shirt. I didn’t delete them entirely, I left them uploaded in the attachments. If BB decides they are okay, then I will simply insert them back into your post. =)
Meeko is very cute! I’m sure everyone here will be excited to see how she grows into her angora coat. For litter training, she’s probably a little young. For now, I would make sure that she has a large enough box and that there isn’t anything else on the floor of her cage/pen that she could mistake for litter. What is her setup currently like?
Aww she is so pretty! ![]()
Is she an English Angora? I have a French angora, named Moxie.
Oops, Double post!
Welcome to BB!
What a cute little fluff ball she is, congrats! Can’t wait to see her grow. I agree with LBJ, she’s still a baby, litter habits will improve with time, especially once she’s spayed. One tip, keep her hay and food above/in her litter box. Rabbits like to poop while eating.
I’m a little confused about the mother bun, you said this is her 3rd “accidental” litter? Seems like at least after the first time they would keep her away from any males?! Three times doesn’t really seem accidental anymore… Why don’t they get her spayed? Do they know about the cancer risk for intact females?
Ditto everything Hazel said!
Look at that little thing all flopped out! That is the tiniest most adorable flop I’ve ever seen!
I think she’s an English, no one told me for sure. She’s gorgeous, I love her, i just clipped her so she looks horribly comedic. lol How would I tell for sure which angora she is?
Thank you! She’s in a super pet cage, Im trying to figure out what to use for the bottom, towels i’d have to wash often until she’s trained, but she gets stuff stuck in her fur too, Right now it’s shredded paper and aspen in the litter box (with alfalfa hay in a makeshift hay rack so she has to go into the litter box to get to the hay).
Isn’t it! She is SO cute, I have a video of her in her little sleeping box in her cage, rolling around and yawning and I almost died. I said the F word so I can’t post it until I edit the sound lol. Isn’t she precious!?
Thank you! Yeah I figured as much, it’s inconvenient for the time being, lots of little poops to pick up lol! I do keep her hay there! I read about that. I need to get one of those metal food box thingies to put the hay in so it doesn’t get wasted. About the mother bun, the 2nd time was an accidental pregnancy again because they didn’t take the male out in time, and she got really depressed without the male in with her. It’s a pet store, and we/they don’t always catch stuff in time, but she’s up for adoption, so they haven’t spayed her.
So it’s shredded paper and aspen both in the litter box? Nothing on the cage floor?
The paper is on the cage floor. Should I stick to actual newspaper and not shredded? Just seems to get less poo attached to her with shreds.
Here is us this morning ?
She is such a doll!
Yes, flat newspaper sheets would be preferable to shredded newspaper. Shredded newspaper resembles litter too much, so it could be confusing.
She sure is! I can’t believe how much she’s grown. I don’t realize it until I think about it and then i get sad ;( She grows so fast! 8 weeks and one day ;(. I ended up getting a large dog wire cage for her, i have the floor just that plastic pan and a litter box with a ‘hay rack’ inside. I can’t wait until there are no poops all over the house lol! Any ideas (cheap) on how to fancify her cage up some? I was thinking about googling a way to make a ‘hammock’ thing for her to chill in too. She has the top of her hut and a corner shelf right now.
I saw this thread before, I must have forgotten to reply…
Meeko is ADORABLE! What a clever name as well! I keep coming back here to look at her piccies.
Hey thanks! She sure is adorable! (And getting naughty, which is also adorable!) Meeko has been her name since day 1
It just fits now, couldn’t imagine any other name! Thanks for stopping by!

A couple of them are from today.

These ones are from today

She’s so cute and curly! Looks like a teddy bear. ![]()
Her haircut makes her look all curly and stuff because it’s really choppy. Who thought cutting wool on a 7 week old (at the time) rabbit would be hard. ha !
She is so sweet! Love her tiny binkies.
I love them too! She’s the best. So quick too! I’m glad she’s happy <3
That has got to be one of the most adorable things ever. ![]()
Sure is!
More adorableness.

I have some more videos but it says file type is not allowed. any idea?
All is well here. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. Goofy pants is still good. I need to trim around her privates and her face but she wont sit long. She hops from the floor to the top of her cage now, loves to beg for whatever im eating when i’m on the floor, hops on me, binkies, jumps high in the air, runs like a fruitcake. ![]()
She looks like a cloud!
Yeah she does, ha ha. People think i’m blowing smoke if I take selfies with her and all you see is fur, haha!
