Hi there! I recently joined your forum and just wanted to introduce you to my girl, Jubilee. Me and my boyfriend have raised Jubilee since she was 6 weeks old. Her mother had been abandoned and was found by a caring family who took her in. To their surprise, she was pregnant! The rabbit ended up having 7 kittens, all of them spotted beige or grey except for Jubilee, who was all white. I remember carrying her in a little shoebox as a man stopped me and said that she must be good luck!
Jubilee is now 3 years old and not yet spayed. We just experienced our first health scare with a nasty urinary infection that was initially what brought me to this site. She passed a few blood clots that were very concerning, especially for an unsprayed doe! A urinalysis report verified that it was a bacterial infection and we’re finishing up her antibiotics this week. I am so thankful she is ok! She has always been a tough little girl so I was very worried when I suspected she was not feeling well. Thankfully she has a doctor who is both knowledgeable and truly cares. I used this forum as one of many references in my own research for understanding, so a BIG thank you goes out to you!!
While she may not have fireworks spitting from her paws (lame X-Men reference
) Jubilee definitely is a firecracker! She has been to quite a few places in her little lifetime. Come to think of it she’s been everywhere I can remember! When she was younger she loved sitting on my shoulders and snuggling in my hair. We would take her with us on family trips and around town as she never minded the car ride– as long as she could sit on your lap! Her favorite place by far was inside the glove box, of all places. We would leave it open and full of fluffy napkins and she would jump in and nap! Jubilee has always been a part of us and I could never let her out of my sight. We took her on our first camping trip to Pismo Beach, where she experienced binkying in the sand… And even went to Arizona with us while visiting family. As she’s grown and we’ve settled down I prefer not to stress her so much, and we’ve made a permanent fortress that she’s gotten quite used to. Her roadtrippin’ days are now pretty few and far between, either only to grandma’s house or the vet.
We currently live in a one bedroom apartment complex in Simi Valley, California and for the first year or so we labored with different fences, playpens, and housing areas to accommodate her with using the space we have. After many trials we finally established a permanent playpen/exercise area for her on our patio, which is fully enclosed from the outdoors by a thick wooden fence and our roof. It opens into our living area where she has access to play with us and her big brother, our dog Turbo. I should mention that Turbo helped us raise her when she was a baby, cleaning her ears and eyes (she would have a total cowlick for days
) and teaching her how to play tag. Turbo is a weathered boy himself, having been diagnosed with a brain tumor this year… But he still loves to play tag with Jubilee anytime he can. They both truly love each other, and Jubes enjoys fooling him into thinking he can catch her! Animals are so remarkable together, and Turbo is a real angel.
I feel that throughout the years as I’ve learned and made mistakes, there’s still so much to know about caring for rabbits. I am not a first time owner, but I’ve never raised a rabbit on my own before Jubilee. We plan on having Jubes spayed as soon as she completes her antibiotics, and hopefully my dreams will come true and she can have a bunny friend in the future. I joined this forum to make some friends that I can learn from and share experiences with. Advice regarding spaying a rabbit and what to expect afterwards would be awesome! As far as her behavior is concerned, she has always been a very playful, sweet, and gentle rabbit. She will lick me and anyone who steps into her world for what seems like hours! ![]()
Anywho, thanks for reading about our buns, Jubilee! Sorry the intro is as long as a college paper.
Hope to see you all around. ~ Alexis
Welcome! Jubilee is a beautiful girl, and LOVE her baby pics!
My gosh! Major cutie over here!
What an adorable, loving bunny!
Welcome! I can’t wait to get to know you and your bun, and would love to answer your questions.
Your dog is gorgeous too.
Thank you for the warm welcome! Jubilee’s feeling much better & binkying once again!
I look forward to meeting everyone and seeing all your sweet bunnies. They all look so loved! I guess the only question I have really is if spaying is a stressful experience for buns? I’ve read it’s best to confine them after surgery, how should I go about doing that? I’ve also read differing opinions on personality changes & habits. I suspect she won’t change for the worse? ![]()
Aww Jubilee is so darn cute!!!!
What a lovely tale … far more interesting than any college paper I ever produced! She’s beautiful, and I love her relationship with Turbo, also a sweetie … my best wishes for him! I can’t help you with the spaying question … my first bun was many years ago before female buns were spayed … and my current female came from the shelter already spayed, but she’s sweet and loving. But I’m new to the site too, and I also love the community. You seem like such an awesome bun (and dog) mom …
Aww thanks! That’s so nice to hear. I do my best, haha! I hope I’m a good bun & dog mom
I also have a mouse, so I hope I’m a good mouse mom too
I hope one day I can have a whole garden full of bunnies and other animals to care for… That would be a dream come true! I’ll have to look through my pictures, some of them are super cute. Thank you so much for you kindness, it’s so nice to be on the forum.
Wow, it always amazes me when I look back at my rabbit to how big she’s gotten and Jubilee is the EXACT same! She’s very cute, glad you’ve made somebunny VERY happy, and in good hands.

Spaying is undoubtedly a bit stressful (how could it not be) but it shouldn’t be too bad because the meds they are given usually know them out a bit so they are more calm. You should confine them after surgery for a few days while they heal. Do you have a petstore cage, or a dog crate or x-pen that you could put her in?
Their personalities don’t change at all. The hormonal frustrations/habits (litterbox inconsistency, territorial problems, etc) should go away, however.
Jubilee is very beautiful. Big Welcome to you! ![]()
