I’m a proud mama to a neutered one year old male mini-lop. I raised rabbits throughout my childhood, but when my sister brought one into her bedroom in high school I became convinced that rabbits do not belong in outdoor cages, and should be spayed or neutered. We looked at many bunnies, but just fell in love with Sweety, as my six year old named him. He is amazing – he sleeps with us, licks our faces, crawls up in our laps, and does not chew on anything but hay, grass and his favorite carrots. When our kids our playing on the floor he is right there with them, snuggling up to them.
However, when ever we leave for a couple of days he protests by peeing all over the floor. When we get home, he acts alternatively mad and leaping for joy. As a result, we decided a friend for him might be a good idea. Yesterday we brought home a baby mini lop who is actually his sister. I’m hoping we can bond them, but if not, she will just have our guest bedroom to herself. Or, worst case scenario, we may have to return her.
