Hello! I’ve been stalking the forums a while now, researching everything related to rabbit care I can possible think of so when I get one in a couple months I’m prepared.
I’m currently taking care of my two dogs, Cece and Lulu, who I love more than anything, and I am also responsible for the care of 6 horses (my babies), Fendi, Hansel, Alfie, Huntleigh, Gulliver and Nahli. I compete in many English riding junior competitions, such as Steeplechasing, Show Jumping, Eventing and Field Hunter Championships, but I’m striving to one day be a professional in show jumping, but we’ll see. I’m praying I don’t get distracted in high school.Anyways, enough boring you with stuff about me.
I’m looking to get maybe a New Zealand White rabbit this spring, probably going to save one from this awful meat rabbit place about 20 minutes from my house unless someone gives me a reason that it would be a bad idea, I’m very open to other options. -
I just feel like it could hardly be stopped by a petition made by me, and there are people with more time than me to make successful ones. I’ve already signed a couple on different sites
Adopting is the safer option, especially because they’re already spayed/neutered and have been checked by a vet. There are lots of nice rescue facilities near me, one that does not spay/neuter and a house rabbit society one. So that might be the smarter option for me, especially being new to rabbit ownership. I had when when I was six, my mom showed me the proper care of it and it got out for exercise and play for hours, had a bid NIC condo. Loved it to death. I had Bunbun (mini-lop) for four years, until one day my idiotic brother very unfortunately opened the door to the rabbit room and left it open and one of our dogs scared it to death. I never forgave him for that. He’s all moved out now though. I must say trying to research the NZW was awful because all that came up were the use of them as test dummies for cosmetics. *shudder*
So I should adopt then?

Six horses, I’m jealous! I’ve always wanted to get into horse back riding, but somehow it just never happened. Maybe one day
. I second LongEaredLions on adopting. Your money will be much better spent at a rescue/shelter, rather than lining the pockets of someone who takes poor care of their animals and breeds them for meat. Of course I can totally understand you feeling the need to save one of them.

It is very sad about those people breeding the rabbits for meat, I passed the place on my way to a horse event one time and it looks like a big facility from the outside. Horrible to think about.
I actually love the NZW rabbits A lot of people don’t because of the eyes, but I think it just makes them unique. Plus I’ve heard they have great personalities, it’s sad that so many people overlook the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ bunnies. (white rabbit is NZW)
I’ll definitely adopt then. I have two nice rescues near me, Friends of Rabbits and a HRS rescue.
