  Hi, I’m Laura. I have 2 girl mini lops called coco(greyish one) and phoenix. I just got them yesterday. Trying to make sure they are comfortable and feel safe in their new environment, any tips would be appreciated.

  Welcome to the board! What lovely girls. As for getting them settled in, I’d just keep it quiet and kind of subdued at first, and maybe offer some small treats, like pieces of carrot with their food. Best of luck with them.

  For settling in, I would just make sure the area around their pen is not too loud, make sure they have somewhere to hide, and plenty of food. You can lay by the pen and see if they will come up to you to take small treats.

  Thanks everyone! We have been told the bunnies are about 7/8 weeks but we think coco could be the younger one, she’s a lot smaller and very shy. Phoenix is settling in great! She loves sitting on the couch with us already lol! We’re off to the pet shop today to buy them a tunnel etc. They keep biting our clothes, were wondering if they are trying to get our attention or not. If anyone could tell me, i’d really appreciate it. Ive had a bunny before but she wasn’t a dwarf and she was an outdoor bunny, coco and phoenix are indoor ones. I was told I hadn’t to give them any veg until february because they are so young?

  First off, with them being so young I would definitely separate them. Did you get them from a breeder? I would wait until 3 months then take them to a vet for a wellness check and to be sexed again. It’s EXTREMELY difficult to sex a rabbit at a young age and we’ve had many a people on BB bring one home thinking it’s one and find out when they take them to spay/neuter that they are not the same sex as they thought! LOL. It’s a necessary precaution. Separating them will also help as they grow into themselves and hormones develop. It’s very typical for babies to begin fighting around 2-3 months and need to be separated as they can really become aggressive little things until spayed/neutered.
  
  They are gorgeous little buns though! Wait until 12 weeks to introduce veggies and then introduce slowly, one at a time, so you can tell if any specific one bothers their little tummies. Good luck with your new buns! Feel free to ask any questions as you have tons of people to give good answers!

  We were told we could keep them together as they are from the same litter. Coco is quite dependent on phoenix, we think coco may have been the runt of the litter as she is so much smaller and more scared but she is warming to us so quickly, but she is very dependent on phoenix already. We are going to the vet on monday just to make sure everything is ok with them, and to really put my mind at ease with them being so young. We were going to ask then about whether we should think about getting them neutured or not. Keep getting conflicting information so I’m very confused. But I do appreciate what you are saying, and I will definetly keep it all in mind, especially the veggies information. We got them from a local pet store, but we know they come straight from a local breeder as my brother works with them.

  I highly recommend spaying your rabbits for many reasons.
  -Unfixed females have and 80% chance of uterine and ovarian cancers by age 2. Spaying eliminates that risk.
  -Rabbits that are not spayed/neutered can never be bonded to each other, they just have too many crazy hormones.
  -Rabbits often become very aggressive, territorial, and destructive when they are not fixed.
  -It’s hard to litterbox train an unfixed rabbit.

  I second LEL in regards to spaying your rabbits especially since both of yours are girls. Here’s an article from the HRS with recommendations for what to feed rabbits at different ages and a separate link for suggested veggies: http://rabbit.org/faq-diet/
  
  For helping them settle in, do a lot of “watching them” nearby so they get used to your presence and you can observe to learn their behaviors. I love laying on the floor with my bun since he just melts while receiving his head pets from me at the same level. Good luck with your gorgeous girls!
