I was looking at Zeus and Freya’s set up tonight and I was thinking about why I have their cages.
Seriously. They both have a puppy pen with a large rabbit cage inside. The thinking behind that WAS so they had somewhere to hide if they wanted to… except they never do. Hide that is.
the only time they go in their cages if is they don’t want to use their litter trays (so they use their cage instead) and it seems to me that they don’t actually need them anymore.
Would it not be better to remove the cage completely? Then they will have almost double the space to hop around in. I could get some dowling and make a second level for them to sit on and under as well.
I know Zeus won’t be in his cage much longer, he will be too big to get in and out the door within a couple of months.
Both are fairly reliabley litter trained (they wee in the tray, but they still drop pellets around which is fine, they can’t ‘hold it in’ like humans can) but should I stick lino in there for them to play on a different surface? Or would I be better keeping the cages in there just incase?
