Hi everyone, here is Mimosa, my two year old harlequin rabbit.
Of all the rabbits I met at the shelter, Mimosa and I got along right from the start. When he came home, he was completely relaxed- nudging my hand onto his head for pets and flopping on the floor next to me. The next day he was running around my room doing binkies. I started clicker training him a week after he came home, and within a few days, he learned his name. Now one month later he is even more comfortable and loves hanging out with my roommates and me. He comes when he is called, stands on his hind legs when we say “Up!”, and he will twirl in a circle when lead. He is most active late at night, which is perfect for me because I like to study late.
Mimosa’s previous owner didn’t spend much time with him, and the owner’s roommate surrendered Mimosa to the shelter in hopes of finding him a better life. I am a first time rabbit owner, and to be honest, I think I lucked out. Despite his past, Mimosa holds no grudges and loves all people. He is so wonderful and happy all the time, he brightens my day no matter what. He is incredibly well behaved…well, for most of the time. My only complaint is he loves chewing baseboards even though I’ve covered them in lemon oil multiple times. But that’s such a minor problem…all the good definitely outweighs that one tiny thing.
Hopefully, Mimosa and I can enjoy many more years together the way lots of you on this forum have with your bunnies.
Now onto pics
