Hello everyone! I have come across this website several times when I have had questions about my rabbit, and it always has been so helpful, so I decided to sign up. I have a rabbit named Bunny (very original lol) and he is about 2 or 3 years old. I rescued the poor bun about a year and a half ago. My boyfriend is a garbage man and when he came home from work he said they almost hit a rabbit with the truck because it was in the middle of the street. We went to get some lunch and I kept thinking about the poor little guy so I asked him to show me where he saw him. I really didn’t think he would be there because it had been 5 or 6 hours later, but I had to check. Much to our surprise he was in the grass on the side of the road just sitting there in the light rain. He let me come right up to him. I offered him a piece of grass and he came to me. I knew I had to rescue him. It seemed like he was someone’s pet and they didn’t want him anymore so they just let him into the wild. I was so upset because that must be the most cruel thing anyone can do. We went right to the store and bought supplies to make sure he had everything he needed. He sat on my lap the whole time my boyfriend was in the store. We brought him home and loved him ever since. I really didn’t take him to the vet until he got sick which was stupid of me because I was unaware of all of the problems that could appear. Unfortunately, about 6 months after we rescued him he develped two abcesses from infected teeth. The vet close by tried treating him with Baytril but that didn’t work so she recommended an exotic pet specialist about a half hour from where I live. He is so amazing and his treatment helped right away. He was on PenG injections for about 4 or 5 months, gradually decreasing the frequency of the injections as the infection cleared. There was still a little infection but no abcesses on the cheek or neck so he wanted to see if it would come back again. It did, and Bunny just had 4 molars removed and was neutered at the same time. He is eating on his own and trying to get back to his normal self. I can’t wait until he does. I can’t believe how affectionate rabbits are. Rabbits are great animals and I’m so glad I found him!!!
