        Hi!

I’m Kels and I guess I’m new, though I’ve been lurking here all summer ever since I became an unexpected rabbit owner! (Though now I’m not so much as his owner, it’s more like I’m his PA, chef, architecht and entertainment director.)

Anyway! My rabbit is named Chester.  I  unfortunately do not know much about him or his past.  I ‘stole’ him from a somebody who as far as I know,  had him for a few years. (I didn’t actually steal him, I’m not a petnapper! I pretty much asked the owner straight up if they were looking for a new home for him because I was interested and it turns out, they were.)  He spent some time as a house bunny, but seems to have wintered in the garage. Most of the time he was in his hutch in the back yard, I’m not sure how often people hung out with him. It was not a nice hutch, and neighbourhood cats used to use it as a lounger. This didn’t really bother Chester (he seems to love cats??!) but it kind of bothered me.

Long story short: he is all settled now in his brand new rabbit condo!  He has an outdoor townhouse, too, for nice days (though there will be no more of those, thanks to winter!)  He’s really quite lovely and a bit bossy, as well.   He seems to be a “rearranger” and he huffs and grunts at me when I move one of his strategically placed pieces of hay.  He got nice new polar fleece blankets for his new digs and I guess I put the wrong blankets in the wrong spots because he spent all night last night dragging the black and grey fleece out of his nesting box, and dragging the solid grey one in.

I don’t know if he’s neutered or not, but I’m in the process of tracking down a vet in my area who knows rabbits.  And even if he is neutered, I just want him to have a check up so we can know that he’s okay.

As for me, and I’ll make this super short since I kind of just wrote a rabbit novel.  I became a bunny slave rather unexpectedly.  Up until this point in my life I honestly though I was a 100% cat person so it’s been an interesting journey, discovering there is room for bunnies in my heart!

Anyroad!  I never thought I’d posted one of these, but this forum & website have been so helpful over the past few months of “whoa, random rabbit in my life!!!”  that I thought it was time I joined in on the fun instead of just hanging about the eges  Thank you for having me!!

Hi! Welcome (: Congratulations on your *unexpected* bunny ;P I love the name Chester, I was considering it with one of my rabbits, and if your avatar picture is of him he is pretty handsome! Bahaha yes, teenager buns are not very pleasant. If he is already neutered, the aggressiveness could be that he is territorial of his home (hutch) which is pretty common in the rabbit world. Otherwise you may be going through what I’m going through right now, a crazy hormonal rabbit  (mine has just been spayed, hormones still wearing off). A check up is a great idea. Lol bunnies love rearranging thier stuff. If you have any questions definitely ask them, because people here are more than happy to answer them  Good luck with the new bun!

Welcome! Chester looks just like my Hazel! So I’d guess he is a Netherland Dwarf rabbit. You can see pics of her in the Lounge thread to see if they match up =) Anyway, congrats on your new bun! I’m sure you’ll enjoy him; they’re so precious!

Hi! Thank you for the welcome

Bunnyfriend, Chester came pre-named! Well, he was Chesterfield but I totally just call him Chester. Or Chester Bunnypants or whatever cutesy nickname pops into my head when I talk to him. That is him in my avatar! I tried to take more pics but he was more interested in trying to eat my Blackberry then he was posing so it was a very short photoshoot! Hopefully soon I’ll be able to find out if he’s a teenager or not. Though I’m not sure if that’s the kind of thing a vet can tell during a check up? We shall see!

Emkvet, I have no clue what kind of bun he is! I thought maybe he was just a. Regular run of the mill rabbit. But am going to the Lounge thread now to see pics of your Hazel so I can compare It will be nice to know!

And thanks, Riley101!  I have to say, though, that all the rabbits around here are super cute!

How big is Chester? Do you know how much he weighs? His little ears and coloring look just like my Netherland Dwarf (and LoveChaCha’s too; she is another member with a twin to Hazel). Now we can have triplets!

hi! Welcome! I lurked around here quite a bit for several months before I brought my cadbury bunny home. :0) All the information was priceless in preparing for my babes arrival, so I can image how helpful it was for you, becoming an unexpected slave. *cough* LOL

                      Hahaha

Yes, Chester definitely looks like a black otter Netherland Dwarf. http://www.arba.net/breeds.htm If you scroll down the page you can see a Netherland Dwarf with black otter coloring.
