Hello all – I am here not because I already have a bunny in my life, but because when I do have the priviledge, hopefully soon, I want to be the best Bun Mum a rabbit could ask for. I am just as fanatical about my hubby, 3 kids, 2 cats and dog. We have a large house and even larger hearts and want to welcome a house rabbit to the menagerie!

So if I seem a lurker, I am. I am just soaking up all the knowledge I can to prepare the most awesome rabbit world possible. I ache for the millions of animals purchased or “rescued” before all information is gathered. In hopes I can prevent even 1 more tragedy I am thnkful for sites like this and the House Rabbit Society.

Thanks all, and if I do have an adoption, I will be on here ASAP to tell EVERYONE about it!

After much research, and lots of anxiety, the meeting is set for tomorrow! We are SOOOO excited. We are hopeful he likes us, as that we are already in love. We have confirmed that he is healthy ( via a rabbit society recommended vet, if all holds up), and we have the evening to finish the preparations of his area/room/floor. We would welcome any tips for helping make the transition from on house to another as stress free as we can, please let me know. As I said, I am a lurker, and I have read all the before you adopt, and preparing for house bunny threads, just any new tidbits that are really fresh or topical would rock. Thanks so much!

As for tips – I think just having the are ready for him and giving him the foods he currently eats and all the information you can get from his foster home about his personality will be a big start.

I cringe to say that he is gonna need a bit of a diet overhaul from what I have read. I will proceed slowly, so as not to upset his tummy any further than the move, but he is being fed bagged stuff with corn and junk in it. Exclusively. No hay, very little veg. Sad. I hope to help him get healthier over time.

We just picked up the bun He is very healthy, other than needing some more nutrition. He is WAY more social than I had anticipated, he is settling in well. Thanks for the well wishes, have picture and bio soonly….

Welcome! Yes, pictures please.  If you have been reading the House Rabbit Society’s site then I think you’re pretty prepared.  The biggest step is WANTING to be a good bunny mom. I have one who’s eating habbits need a big overhall too.  I think you will find that he LOVES his new diet.  Mine lived off of treats so he’s not to apt to change. Good luck.

So happy to hear about a bunny finding  good home!  best advice I could ever give about bunnies is to expect the unexpected and know most rabbits could be career criminals!  my two specifically could be escape artists/thieves, sophie especially likes to steal papers, Cady steals pillows! best of luck!!
