Hello!
I’m known as Trovalsa (or Trovs, if you prefer) in forums and the like. I’d rather not give away my name yet, Internet security, y’see.
I’m 17 years old and I live in Portugal. Holidays are taking their toll on me so I apologize in advance for any inevitable typos. I’m in High School studying Science, and I hope to get into Equine Management in College. My dream is to set up the first horse rescue shelter in the country. And perhaps a rabbit shelter too. Unfortunately, my country is seriously lacking on both. (We’re not lacking in submarines, though.) Let’s see what happens in ten year’s time.
I like drawing, reading, horse riding, classic musicals and classical music. I dislike ants, text speak, crowds and clowns. I’m obsessed with Phantom of the Opera. (a big, unhealthy obsession. *snicker*)
Months ago I came across an artist who had a love for bunnies. She was the one who introduced me into this new world. Even though I haven’t talked much to her, I’m friends with her husband. They’re both amazing artists. But I’m getting off-topic here. Anyway, shortly after this, I started researching on bunnies, becoming more and more interested on them, and in the end I decided I’d love to try the bunny-owning experience first hand. These past weeks were filled with lots and lots more research, and some changes of mind. But in the end, I decided to get a bunny, and this is how Alex came into my life. I got him on Monday, and in this short time I came across a few things that I hadn’t researched about. Comes to show that you can never research enough! A bunny is a lot of work, but I was ready for that. But as much work as he takes, it is a very rewarding experience. I love the way he runs to me and nudges my arm when I’m sitting on the floor, even though he doesn’t let me touch him much. And in the rare occasions he does let me pet him, I love to hear him purring. We’re still in the bonding stage, so I hope his behaviour will change soon. If it doesn’t, then I’ll accept it as his personality.
Alex is 7/8 months old. I don’t know his breed but I was told he probably is a mix of some sort. If anyone else has another opinion, please speak up. He is not castrated, as he is sweet and uses his litterbox well. However, if this changes, I most likely will take him to the vet to have the surgery done. At what age are bunnies normally considered teenagers?
He dislikes being picked up, vacuums, carrot, apple, banana and grapes. To be honest I haven’t found a treat he likes yet.
He was named after a character from a Phantom fan-made sequel comic. (I told you I was obsessed) This comic was written by those artist I talked up there. And yes, there’s a bunny in the comic. His name is Mephistopheles!
Alex loves to run. He runs everywhere – be it in his cage (waking me up at late night) or around my bedroom when I let him loose. I’m tempted to let him spend a night with the cage open to see what happens. I’m afraid of the possible outcome, though. He likes to relax under my bed, behind the curtain, or in the rug next to the mirror. He also likes to rest under the nightstand or in the shelves among the books. He likes classical music too, but I think his favourite is the Phantom of the Opera Overture. We were meant to be together! I also read to him a lot. In English. Which causes many weird stares when someone enters the room, partly because I’m reading to a bunny.
I guess that is all about him… I have a question though. If I were to spend a weekend out at my family’s, which would be the best option: Take Alex with me (there’s a dog in the house but I can keep him away from the bunny, car ride is about 1h), leave him here with extra food and water (the store lady told my mom she did that, and now my mom thinks it’s ok to do it. Doesn’t sound like the best option to me, though.) or take him to stay at my grandparents’? (With an instruction sheet, probably.)
But enough talking: On to the pictures!
So, is he approved?
