Hello everyone. I’m brand new to this forum but am a bunny lover for years. A little about my bunbuns. I have two: Stormy and Dunkin.

Stormy, aka “Prince Stormy,” has been with me for about 6-7 years. I chose him from the breeder. He’s black except for the tip of his nose and a dab on his front paws. He is a very sweet boy who’s been neutered. He’s lived in the house although I do have a large outdoor hutch with a running attachment for him. But it gets too hot or too rainy here in Florida, so he spend very little time outside. He’s a Netherland Dwarf / Brittania Petite mix and tends toward the Netherland in his temperament. Before Stormy, there was Sergie, who was from the same breeder and the same breed mix. Sergie was much more the Brittania. He was fierce and feisty and affectionate but would not let me hold him. Stormy lets me hold him.

Dunkin is a new boy, and was originally named Daphne. But afew months in and I discovered she was a he and renamed him (after my fav coffee). He is mostly white with some pretty little splotches of color on his back and ears. He is larger than Stormy, and I am not sure what he breed is – maybe someone here can help!

Dunkin has matured and I’ve had to split the two because he’s not being nice to sweet little Stormy. I hate to do it because they have bonded. They sleep together, eat together, groom and kiss each other. But last night, as Stormy was being especially affectionate, I saw two abrasions on his head – about the size of teeth – and realized that Dunkin was hurting him. I keep them in a bunny room and do not have cages, so my alternative right now is to keep Stormy in one room and Dunkin in another. As you can imagine, the maintenance has doubled!

That’s a very brief glimpse of my sweeties. I’m trying to upload photos on my personal album but can’t! So I’ll give it a try here. Nope, that won’t work either.

Ok got Stormy and Daphne/Dunkin as a baby as attachments!

          Welcome to the forums Anne.

Can’t wait to see pics of your boys! How old is Dunkin then? Do you think it’s his hormones contributing to the problem? Have you seen them fight? I’m just wondering if the abrasion you noticed could have been Dunkin over grooming Stormy though I suppose you would have noticed evidence of that sooner.
Anyway, I hope you can get them back together soon. There is a subforum on the site devoted to Bonding if you’re wanting any advice.

The personal albums are not operational at the moment but you can post pictures in the forums. If you’ve got their pictures on as attachments, be sure to click on the Insert Picture button next to the file name after it loads. You can re-open your post when your logged in on the site. (Click on Edit on RH side top of post) Re-open the attachment bar. The pic info should still be listed if you were able to get them loaded there. So it’s just a matter of clicking insert picture and they should appear where ever the cursor is.

          Goodluck!

Hi and thanks for the welcome!

About your questions: yes, I saw Dunkin aggressively chase Stormy a few times. And yes, hormones probably have a lot to do with Dunkin’s behavior. He’s just crazed and territorial but otherwise sweet. It’s a strange situation because I can see they love each other from them previously sleeping, eating together and licking each other. And they both seem a bit depressed when I split them up. But Stormy is frightened of Dunkin, who is bigger and heavier. And Stormy has been the Little Prince for years! So this is probably traumatic for him, having a big white stranger around who chases him. He wants to make sure I still love him and he gives me lots of licks.

I’ll try again with attaching pics here. Thanks for the directions!

OK – here is little Dunk when he first came home and I hought he was Daphne.

And this is my darling sweet Stormy.

They are both so cute! Both have sweet little markings, Stormy with his white paws and Dunkin with his eye marks and stripe. : ) It’s funny, it’s probably because of the info you’ve given but Dunkin does have a certain look to him – young spunky attitude . lol

Are you able to rig something up in your bunny room so they are still in the same space but separated for now? They can still have the company in a way but without the fighting.

oh that’s a good thought. I’ve looked around and will try putting a cage between the doors (they are in two separate rooms). We’ll see how that works… it’s part of their outside domain and has a run attached to one end and the other is attached to the hutch. I might be able to rig something up. That will be especially good for Dunk, so he doesn’t feel he has to protect his space. He’ll see Stormy all the time and hopefully, calm down a little. in his terrorial-ness (whatever that’s called).

Ad yes, Dunk has that kind of spunkiness. Dunk the Spunk!

Awww, they are so cute.  I’m partial to Dunkin, myself.  No wonder you thought he was a she with that eyeliner he’s wearing
