Hi I’m a new owner of a holland lop bunny that is just turned 5months old on the 24th .. Her name is creme and she says hey. I just got her 5days ago and i let her run around my living room . She does a whole bunch a binkies that creep me out sometimes but I’m starting to get used to. She loves to lay down in her litter box for some reason. She is not potty trained yet unfortunately but she is getting used to leaving her droppings in her litterbox. I let her go to the dining room and kitchen and hallway but i found out that if i let her roam around the whole house she’ll just leave presents everywhere, so i blocked her from those rooms right now and let her run around the living room until she is fully trained. . . She sometimes nibbles(bites) me , only twice because im trying to tell her what her litterbox is or i tried to keep her in her box for just a couple minutes so she can poop but she bit me..

Please give me a couple tips and feel free to ask any questions.. [ =

              Hi there

I would restrict her space until she is spayed and litter trained A large cat litter box (w/o the top) with rabbit safe litter and hay! Yes, rabbits love to poop and eat at the same time.. lol!

              SHE IS SO CUTE!!!

Welcome, she is adorable binkies are good… it means she’s happy!

Holding a rabbit in their litter box won’t help them learn – you have to use their own instincts to your advantage. Rabbits are prey animals, so they like to keep their waste in one spot. Some tips on helping her learn her litter box:

If she has a cage, don’t put bedding down in the whole thing. Just put bedding in the litter box.
If she is going in a spot all the time instead of her box, move the litter box to that spot. You have to go with what she wants, not her with what you want.
Get a cat litter box. The corner ones they sell for rabbits are too small for most rabbits to like to use. (several if she’s not in a cage)
Keep her hay in her litter box rather than out, they like to eat and poo at the same time. So you’ll get more droppings out of the box if her hay isn’t in there.
Keep her confined to the smaller area until she learns.
Clean up any accidents with vinegar and water to avoid her remarking the area.

Some rabbits won’t litter train until after they are altered as well, hormones can cause them to mark territory. If she doesn’t train, she’ll probably get there after she is spayed. Another reason to have her spayed is females have about an 80% chance to get cancer by age 2. It can also help with aggression and any destructive habits she may start once her hormones kick in.

@LoveChaCha and Sugarbearnpepper and brittbritt ; Thankks (:

@Stickerbunny Thanks for the tips. She’s been pooping more often in her litterbox and there’s only a few droppings outside of her box. I’ve moved the hay next to her litterbox too.

Should i put her water bowl and pellet food next to her litter box too. (she does not know how to drink of a water bottle)..
And I am planning on getting her spayed in about 2weeks maybe sooner. I’ve done many research about how it will help her and it will also help me.

Pellets and water near the box isn’t needed, they seem to like to go while eating hay though. My female picked up litter training in a week, even before her spay. Sounds like your girl is learning. Glad you’re getting her spayed! Make sure the vet you go to is bunny-savvy (first tip off to a vet that doesn’t know what they’re doing is if they ask you to fast them, as rabbits cannot vomit they should be eating up to the surgery) – house rabbit society has a page on how to find a vet if you don’t already have one too.

Uhh… I moved cremes litter box to the spot that she usually poops at which made me move the rest of her stuff …

But since I moved her stuff yesterday she lookslike shes mad or something.. And after i clean her cage and litterbox and stuff she kicks her bedding and litter everwhere and shes been trying to move her hay outside her litterbox..

Some rabbits just don’t like their stuff being moved, but they will get over it

Also I have three rabbits, two are bonded and normally only go pee in their litter tray and poop is about 50% of the time. Rufus is near 95% of the time in his litter tray so finding the odd stray ones if just a fact of life with a rabbit unless you get one of these rare breeds that all rabbit owners dream off that NEVER NEVER go anywhere but the litter tray

What size is the cage? Thats the first thign we need to know to tell you what would be good to have in it

Most store bought cages are too small for bunnies, they need room to stretch out, to run, to play, to periscope. If they can’t do that, you need a larger space.
