› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › WELCOME ! › Hi! I’m new!
Hello everyone!
I’m new to Binky Bunny and I wanted to introduce myself! my name is Jovie and I’m the proud Momma to two buns, Speckle and Simon. Simon is a male hotot, and Speckle is a female “mystery breed”, she’s mixed who knows what so she’s a mystery!
Welcome! We love to see bunny pics, so feel free to share!
Welcome! Mystery buns are fun, are they fully grown yet? I had no idea how big mine would get lol, she ended up to be 12 lbs. I got worried at one point and started looking up breeds, I found funny pictures of dog sized Flemmish Giants and got really worried that I would end up with a monster on my hands hahaha. I love their names, cant wait to see pics!!!
Welcome! I’d love to see pics.
Well, Simon is about 6months and Speckle is about 5months, I don’t know if they’re fully grown yet because I’ve read they may not stop growing until about a year. However, when I first adopted Simon (about 2 months ago) Speckle was little, now she’s getting bigger than him
I’ll have to post pictures, my friend got Speckle from a flee market and we don’t know what she is, her ears are HUGE and she seems to have some rex in her with chincila fur.. she’s a mystery!
It is quite normal for females to be bigger : D
Are they spayed/neutered?
yes, of course they are.
Welcome..and yes pics please ![]()
Welcome! I’d also love to see pics!
What LoveChaCha asked regarding spay/neuter is a normal question around here. As a forum that promotes rabbit rescue and responsible bunny ownership, we are obviously concerned about the overpopulation problem. Not everyone realizes the necessity of having this done, and especially when a new member mentions they have a male/female pair of sexually mature age, we like to clarify that both are altered. I’m glad you have already taken the initiative to have this done. Are they bonded right now?
Yes, they’re bonded, the rabbit rescue did the bonding for me when I adopted Simon, I had to leave Speckle there for a week but it was worth it, they’re very cute together, and of course the rescue does not support breeding because of overpopulation, but yes, they’re both fixed so no babies for them.

Speckle is my mystery breed bun and Simon is the hotot, anyone wanna take a stab at Speckle’s breed???
OMgosh! What adorable buns you have!! I love Simon’s ears!
I think Simon is of the “Cute” breed, myself ![]()
Does Speckle have rex fur? How big is she?

Does Speckle have rex fur? How big is she?
I don’t know, does it look like rex fur? some people told me it looked like chinchila fur, the people at the rescue said she looked like a rex, and I’m not sure on her size maybe like 5 or 6lbs?
Is her fur “different feeling” than Simon’s? Very dense, where you can’t really see individual hairs? If so, she could be a rex mix… Standard rexes are about 8 pounds, minis are about 4. In my signature pic, Meadow is a mini rex…
geez, well… no, not really, Simon’s hair is thicker and longer, Speckle’s hair is shorter (she doesnt shed much) and it has more of a fluffy cotton ball feeling (if that makes sense) she definitely kinda looks like a rex, but her ears are HUGE so.. she’d probably be a standard rex mix, she’s probably going to get bigger.
Rex fur feels more like felt or woolen fabric like flannel whereas a ‘standard’ rabbit feels like, well, fur.
From the look of him, I’d say he’s got some flemmish Giant in him – expect him to get bigger. He has the slight darker coloring on his eartips and nose so there’s a little California in him and the fur does look like a rex. So he’s a mutt, but a very cute one.
I vote standard rex / possibly mixed with something else. The fur sure looks like rexed fur in the picture. Are the whiskers shorter and a bit crinkled compared to Simons? That’s another rex trait.
Both are beautiful bunnies regardless. ![]()
Chinchilla is a fur colouring name and also a rabbit breed name. The colour can show in many breeds. Maybe people where refering to the colour when they mentioned chinchilla?
To me Speckle looks a lot like this rabbit. A “ghost” chinchilla rex rabbit.
Picture from rebeller rabbit stud.
When they saw Speckle at the rescue they said she was going to be huge because her ears were HUGE! and as you can see, they are really really big, and yes, She does look like this “ghost” chinchilla rex rabbit, she has curly whiskers, which people have told me is a rex trait, omg.. how big do you guys think she might get? I think I got a giant monster bunny without even knowing it :/

this looks just like her!!!!!!
