Hello there! I’m a 23 year old art student who grew up with rabbits as a kid and just recently adopted my own bunny as a companion to share my single apartment with. My rabbit’s name is Sir Gentleman (although I call him Sir), and I’ve only had him for a week. I wish I could upload a picture of him, but apparently the file size is too big. Since he’s so handsome I’ll just describe him for you. Sir is an eight month old dark brown bunny with patches of lighter fur and white toes. I think he’s a dwarf/lionhead mix as he’s very small and has long fur on the top of his head and around his face (it sort of looks like a beard and mohawk).
I had been thinking about adopting a rabbit from a shelter for a long time but met Sir by chance. I was visiting a local pet store to play with the puppies and baby bunnies and noticed a sign separate from the baby buns that said “adoption rabbit $10” Then I saw this little brown misfit bunny and asked about him. Apparently some owner dropped him off in a tiny cage stating that they didn’t want him anymore. I picked him up and immediately fell in love. He was so calm and nuzzled my face. I vowed to take him home and give him the love and attention he deserved.
Although it’s been only a week, Sir has adjusted very well. He never pees outside his litterbox and rarely poops either. And while at first all he wanted to do was hide under my futon and run away when I tried to touch him, he’s now gladly accepting food from my hands and occasionally jumps into my lap to be petted. I’m not in my apartment constantly, but when I am (about 5 or 6 hours while I’m awake) he gets free range of the living room. I’m very very happy I found Sir and can only hope that he’s just as happy to have found me.
