Well we’re back home from the vets and I have a bag full of goodies. Well Gracie probably wouldn’t say “goodies” since it’s all meds.
She probably peed on herself last night because she didn’t look as good as before when I bathed her. So I think they might have shaved some of the mats off and also gave her a nice butt bath. She’s still cleaning herself now but is keeping toasty by the heat register.
The Dr. wanted to try a few more things to help her (she’ll never be fully better but we can make her more comfortable). She also has urine scald and her skin is infected a bit. So this is what she’s on starting today:
.25 of Metacam every day
.03 of Tramadol twice a day rotating ears that it is rubbed into (with gloves because you don’t want it on your hand)
Silvadene rubbed on her skin by her legs for the urine scald twice a day (along with on her ears sometimes because the tramadol dries them out)
.5ml of Orbax once a day, an antibiotic for her infected skin along with if she has an infection of her bladder (he couldn’t get any urine from her to see if there’s any crystals)
1 gram of Benebac once a day in her mouth or on her food; he explained to me that it goes along with the antibiotic and it’s kind of like Activia for animals.
So far she’s had the Metacam and Tramadol right now. She’s still wet to put any Silvadene on. He said if she gets any diaherra to stop with all her meds and call him. I have to call him in 5 days to let him know how she’s doing. He also cleaned her ears out and showed me I could do it myself as long as I don’t push the wax in, to just scoop it out. It was hard to see how he was doing it because she kept scratching her back leg on my hand while I was holding her to get to her ears. I have to get some of those long q-tips because the ones I have probably aren’t as great to get the wax out. But hopefully this all helps her. It was $125 for all, which wasn’t too bad. I’ve totalled up how much we’ve had to spend for her vet wise and it’s probably at $1200 now, and we’ve had her since Feb. 2009.
I wanna know who says bunnies aren’t expensive!
