The second is often called a Sable or Otter coloring. The first one I’d call a spotted rex. BTW, what are their names?

              the second isnt sable.
the first is a broken butterfly pattern…

they’re supposed to be from the same litter. the spotted one is named rorschach (male) and the black one is nikka (female). nikka actually has really dark brown spots on her back that match rorschach’s black spots.

i know they’re not mini rex’s because their fur is not velvety like rex bunnies. they’re about 6.5 pounds and they’re almost 1 year old, so I’m guessing that’s as big as they will get.

Welcome! Well they are gorgeous what ever they are!

It’s difficult to really tell breed.  Colourings that are common to a breed can occur in other breeds too. It’s really just guessing.
With rex mixes, I believe they don’t always have the rexed fur. One of our members has a pair of rex crosses without rex fur. So it is possible they are a mini rex cross with larger breed or even standard rex cross something smaller. And it’s also possible they are something completely different. I’ve seen pics of litters where none of the kittens resemble the parents.

Do you have more pics showing the body form?

Nikka has a pretty distinctive form with that back arch. This could be her age though. She almost looks a bit like the tan breed shape. Not in colour or fur type. But they could pass as rex too.
As for colour, I think she is black otter as mentioned. I’ve also just seen pictures of rabbits classed as broken black otter that look like Rorschach. He appears to have tan colour inside the ears.

What are common breeds in rabbitries in your area? That might give some clue. Keeping in mind they or their parents may have originally come from other side of the country for all we know.

I would guess as a mix. I’m not even sure. A majority of bunnies are mixed.

Did I mention I wanna steal your otter? she is big! And I love otters!! *squeals*

I have no idea, but as Petzy has said they are very pretty!

Oh, they also have these brown marks on the back of their necks. I’m not sure if that’s indicative of anything but here’s a picture I tried to get of them.

My black and white lop has brown fluff on the back of his neck too. I have no clue why, but I don’t think it’s due to breed at all. They really are gorgeous buns!

I think all we know is color and not breed LOL!

Beautiful bunnies! I second everyone that they are both black otters (your boy is a broken black otter, hence the brown on the back of his neck). Not sure about breed though, unfortunately. The color of Tan rabbits is different than an otter – instead of the buff colored accents they have very reddish tan colored accents (hard to explain, but it’s clear in pictures). I don’t quite think they’re a fully arched breed like the tan or belgian hare either. Tricky one, but very cute! Their ears and faces remind me of New Zealands.

The black & white looks like a continental giant to me… Or even a giant pappillion
