Hello! I am new here…….have never had bunnies prior to this summer. Was at a small chicken sale and someone was selling baby bunnies. They had a bunch all squashed into a wire cage in the sun with no shade for hours. I felt sorry for them and bought 2 girls for $3 each. a little black lionhead and a gray rex (i think). The black bunny was incredibly overheated and although I got her cooled off and acting normally within a day, she died the following weekend

I went to craiglist to find a buddy bunny for the remaining gray bunny (now named Stella)…..and found a cute little lionhead mix. Brought her home but kept her separate under quarantine…..and then she grew testicles LOL. Darn it.

So until I can get Monroe the new bunny neutered they live separately.

I just built them a new cage. Stella on top, Monroe on the bottom. I had started building this cage as a single multi level unit for the 2 “girls’….but had to extend the middle floor to allow for separate cages for the bunnies.

I don’t know much about bunnie and am learning as i go, however I have all sorts of other animals….dogs, cat, horse, ducks, chickens…..the bunnies will fit right in eventually.

        Stella

        Monroe

Stella doesnt seem to like the camera.LOL.she’ll get used to it.Monroe is such a cute furball!

dont forget to give them some out/play time everyday for a couple of hours.you’ll love watching them binky.

hows their litter training?i see you have those corner litterboxes.i tried that before but it just didnt work for us because its too small and my bunnies just kick the litter out.you could try the regular cat litterboxes if that wont work for you.

almost all stores that sell bunnies missex them.have they been checked by the vet yet?it will be good if you take them for a checkup so you know if theyre healthy.oh and so they’ll be sexed right too.

              goodluck with them!

Welcome here to you and your cuties! I’m sorry you lost the little one too. Not a nice 1st experience with bunnies. If you happen across the person who sold the rabbits, give them a piece of your mind about the conditions they were in.

Brought her home but kept her separate under quarantine…..and then she grew testicles LOL. Darn it.

lol! If I had a dollar every time…….

Generally male-female bonds are easier to achieve then female-female so you may just be thankful yet. Of course, it does depend a lot on the individual bunnies too.

                  The housing looks great!!

                    Welcome!

You are probably better off with a male and female. Female-female bonds are notoriously difficult. And keep in mind, two girls would have had to be separated anyways once they reached sexual maturity, and rebonded after they were both spayed. Females are very territorial when intact.
