Hi all! My name is Jennifer. I just became the (very proud) owner of my first bunny. I always wanted a bunny growing up, but my mom always told me I couldn’t have one because she thought all they did was poop. But I must say, after doing a tonnn of research about pet rabbits, I am finding myself totally fascinated with them! I love learning about all the different breeds. I never knew that rabbits could make such wonderfulf family pets.

Anyway, yesterday I bought a beautiful male Mini Lop from a breeder. After much debate, we decided to call him Oliver. He is VERY friendly, and practically fearless. he loves to sidle up to my leg for snuggles when I’m sitting on the floor, and he even crawls into my lap for attention. He has a healthy appetite and is a poop machine. I’ve found that he really likes celery and is starting to warm up to carrot tops. He is stretched out against my leg as I write this.

Here is a picture of Ollie. I think he is very photogenic.

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Yes, Oliver has blue eyes. That’s what first drew us to him, aside from the fact that he was the most friendly and outgoing out of all the buns in his litter. I had never seen a broken with blue eyes, either. He is very special to us.

We discovered this morning that he really likes kale… he was running around like a maniac when we let him out of his pen this morning! I never knew rabbits had such character.

Rabbits do have such character! I try to convince people all the time and they just look at me sideways.

You have a very handsome bunny!

Do you know how old he is? He doesn’t look like a baby. How much does he weigh?

We’re not sure. The breeder wasn’t in when we picked him up; instead, her daughter helped us, and she was a little girl. She said that she thought he and his littermates were around 2 months, but she wasn’t really sure. If i had to guess, I’d say he weighs about 2lbs? He was the biggest out of all his siblings, that’s for sure. The girl groaned when she picked him up, LOL.

I love how he has identical markings above each eye like little eyebrows. It kinda defines those blue eyes. He’s lovely….and big!
You mentioned elsewhere you have hedgies? I would love to see pics if have some to share. All pics of any pets are welcome.

That’s funny, I never noticed his little eyebrows before. Maybe that’s what make him so expressive.

I do have hedgies. Everyone thinks I’m nuts because I have hedgehogs, but they make great pets.

I got Annabelle a year ago from a breeder in Connecticut. She’s very cuddly and calm; she likes to cuddle and move as little as possible, lol.

I got my second hedgie, Lily, off Craigslist. A woman had bought her on impulse and quickly realized she wasn’t up to having a hedgehog because she preferred “furry” animals. (Sighhhh.) So I drove 45 mins out into the country to pick her up. She was in a pretty bad situation in a totally unsuitable cage, and at first she was really fearful of human contact, but I’ve had her for about 3 months now and she’s starting to come out of her shell. She loves to explore and get into trouble. I don’t have many good pictures of her because she’s so energetic.

Sonn, I think they are precious, but my gf’s mom is seriously creeped out by them. She says they look like possums.

Aw, I didn’t know they weren’t in Australia! It never occurred to me haha. Is it that they’re illegal (they’re illegal in some states here, and NYC), or that people just don’t really have them?

Snuggles is an adorable name! It would have suited Annabelle, lol. Lily originally came with the name Snuffles, which is cute, but I prefer human-ish names for animals.
