So, he is so far unnamed. Ya’ll are welcome to make suggestions. The rescue was calling him Finn, which is okay, but I’m not in love with it. Louis maybe? William? Schnee (means snow in German)? Franz? I really just don’t know. :/
About him: estimated 1 year old, going to vet for checkup in 2 weeks to confirm this, fixed of course. Handsome, impossibly sweet. He loves to kiss any body part he can find. Despite being given apple wood, willow, and cardboard, he’s shown no interest in chewing on anything so far or really any kind of destruction. He definitely likes parsley and papaya tabs, and even did the racing in circles around me dancing thing one time when I was refreshing his hay, inserted his whole self into the minibale bag, and dug and rooted around in it. No other displays of interest in digging, even when he made the leap up onto my bed….? Also likes to follow people around, seems to be more interested in being near us than in playing with any of the things I got or “doing his own thing”. Funny little guy. But, so far very well behaved, been great with the litter box after day 1. We’re absolutely in love! Now if we can just figure out what to call him – I’m waiting for some magical inspiration.
More photos to come when boyfriend remembers camera next week – we made do with the camera phones for now.

Oh blue eyes – what a beauty he is! I like Finn.
Awww he is so cute! How about Frank (with those blue eyes)?
Oooo blue eyes (Sarita I’m with you
) What a little cutie!! I really like the name Finn as well! He looks like Indybun but with his spots all washed off lol
awwww so cute.my bunny’s almost like yours-but ruby eyed
what a gorgeous bunny!!
Sinatra is a name that comes to mind.
omg squeeeeeeeee………imma goona steal em! i swears! i love the blue eyes!
After all your preparation it’s great to see you finally have bought him home. He is loooovely! Goodness!
After you’ve lived with him for a few days, the right name might come to you. Of course, it’s fun to brainstorm here though. From the names you’ve thought so far, Louis has my vote. ![]()
Your description and german names had me thinking of Edelweiss (noble/white) though maybe a bit of a mouthful! Still, the lyrics of the song seem to fit what you’ve said of this bunbun.
Anyway, plenty of inspiration at this page: http://www.altheim.com/bunny/
Thanks everyone! Of course I cursed myself bragging on him, he’s been perfectly behaved EXCEPT after this post he peed on a plastic bag that was out on the floor. Better the bag then my floor. He pooed on it, too. I’m not sure what was so interesting about that bag!
@Jersey we have had him home a few days – since Thursday night and still not sure! But I’m waiting, usually it takes me a while and then I’ll have this like, “divine inspiration” moment where a name will come to me. I do like Edelweiss though.
Bleh, we’ll see! I’ll browse this inspiration…. if all else fails it will end up being like my parent’s cats they adopted last year, they intended to rename but took so long picking the shelter names stuck.
Trying to pick something with the thought in mind that we may do bunny speed dating in a few months and find him a mate. Not that the names have to match, but I like when they do have same letter or a theme (like those of you with food-name buns). I suggested Spike (Buffy) and maybe later a Dru, but then realized how hilarious “Spike the Bunny” would be! But I’m leaning towards something scandinavian, maybe because he was introduced as Finn and I’ve just got my brain on Finland/Sweden/Denmark/Germany/etc.
What?!
You’ve had him since Thurs and only just posting pics?
Actually, I’d be keeping him to myself too.
Sometimes names come when you’re not thinking of them. ;o)
Snowman
Zen
Sage
Marshmellow!!! – he sounds sweet / gooey/ sticky :p
Well you could call him Phineas (or Phin for short).
I may have to call him Shaggy pretty soon! Ge seems to be mid-molt and is looking rather raggedy and ruffled and…. lumpy, if that makes sense, today. Hah. Hairbuster, here we come…..
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Compiling these and some off that link for a naming decision panel sometime this week. ![]()

What a beautiful BEW Polish Rabbit. Sugarbear’s twin.. even has the same personallity and the same age. Shuggy likes to be around us more than chewing or digging. He jumps on the couch to be pet and sleep for hours. He loves to lick (groom) us and expects return grooming pets and kisses. He chews wood blocks not any other toys or wood “twigs”, or cardboard. Hopefully he is as easy to keep and as enjoyable as Shuggy is. Sugar was so sweet we chose Sugar for his name, and he likes to sneek into rooms walking like a polar bear we call him Sugar Bear.
He’s such a gorgeous bunny! I couldn’t help myself from gasping and saying awww when I saw his picture
He has amazing eyes!
Awww, I think Sugar may be a long lost brother after all! The rescue called him a dwarf mix, but I looked at his ears and face and thought definitely a mix if there’s any dwarf in him at all. I will be curious to see what his exact weight is when he goes in for his vet check – he’s definitely a little guy though! I’m amazed when I am petting him and rubbing his cheeks just how small his little head is under the fur. I think it’s probably only an inch and a half wide! In fact when it’s about 8:20 every morning and he wants breakfast (also any time I walk by and his cage is shut) he will stuff half of his face through the bars, which I know are 1.25 inches apart.
sugar sleeps with you guys.so cute
Well he looks like sugarbear for sure. When we got him everyone said he was a dwarf mix or a netherland. We looked around and we are sure Shug’s an American Polish (polish like turtle wax not like the nationality). The way to tell for sure is the fly back coat, body taper, and size. Shug at a year old has leveled off at a massive 3 lbs. Here is a link to the american polish club.

I would bet that your rabbit is a polish, One way we were able to tell for sure is we went to a county fair and looked at the rabbits and he was spot on the same as all the polishes there. We now say his breed is a Snugglesaurus. ![]()
Any luck on finding a name yet? We just adopted a Netherland dwarf for a buddy for Shug (and us) and we are still not settled.
I have hell week at school, but it’s basically one week to go til I more or less have my Masters, so I haven’t had time to be looking (yet here I am on BB…. hah!). My goal is to name by this weekend. Maybe Friday if I’ve been good about my homework between now and then I will take the time to look some more and think on it.
I think you are right as far as shape of both head and tapered body looks more Polish on my bunny, and definitely similar to Shug. But he’s rollback fur (I think, not sure how quick is a fly vs a roll) and bigger ears that aren’t together really. Who knows, I’m just hoping he doesn’t end up with small bunny breed teeth problems and I will be thrilled!
Both Sugarbear and Nameless look like Polishes to me. I spent a long time studying bunny breeds before getting Monkey. I wanted a small bunny to start with, and it was a toss up between Polish and Nethie.
Misskris, its IS possible your bunbun is a mix of Polish and something else smallish.
Yes, that’s what seemed most likely to me, a Polish with a cross of something else in there. Or perhaps he is all polish but just not fitting the standard all that perfectly – he’s not a showbun after all!
Nameless, hahaha. With the month I waited between picking him and bringing him home you’d think I’d have this sorted by now. I was waiting thinking “his personality will inspire me when he gets here”. The part of my brain that handles creative must be broken!
I do kind of want to name him Attila the Bun. So not appropriate but oh so funny.
My mom named a bunny Rambo when I was little ![]()
Actually the Polish thing inspired me. I may name him a noble title (since they have “royalty bun” reputation) like Marquis, I quite like that one. We’ll see.
He’s cute! Beware: he looks like one of mine and that one is such a piece of work!
Hey, good luck with wrapping up your studies.
I thought I’d throw in another name. I know someone who has a boy named Piotr (polish form of Peter). They say “pea-ot” and it always sounds oh so cute to me.
