My bunnies did quite well…cats too (although our feral cat was out all night and I haven’t seen her yet today, so I hope she’s okay. Hubby would’ve told me otherwise I think.)
But in our neighborhood, it doesn’t stop after the 4th. We’ve had some pops and bangs going off today (probably all week is my guess-it was bad enough that it started by the first of the month!) )and of course the diazepam didn’t help the dogs much. They would sleep and be groggy if I sat in their enclosure with them, but by 11 PM I was done and had to come in for a shower to get all my mosquito bites to stop itching. Of course the drunken neighbors don’t seem to realize that after midnight things are supposed to be quiet.
Taiku has a bare scrape all the way down his nose from yanking on the fence. It looks pretty nasty. I’ve been using a 40-60 hydrogen peroxide/water mix and neosporin on it.
And then after everyone finished with their displays last night (because it had rained heavily with thunder and lightning most of the day) the cooler high level air pushed all the exhaust from the fireworks into our yard. it was thicker than tule fog. So no windows open last night to help with the heat in the house. I had to have my fan on most of the night just to be able to sleep. So today Mimzy is sneezing a bit more than usual. Me too though, so maybe the smoke (we also have a wildfire nearby) is causing it. It was a benadryl day.
I used to love 4th of July. Now I hate it. My poor animals. And all the other animals who don’t like loud noises. They deserve more consideration than this. I appreciate patriotism and holiday spirit, but seriously….
BT, that is amazing that Cotton did so well and you could take him to see the displays in your area! 0_o That is one rock steady bun you have there!
