i’ve never seen what an incision from a spay looks like. not sure if it’s normal to be swollen… maybe some one else knows if a bit of swelling is normal? did your vet give any post-op instructions about how the incision should look?
when my bun had a mass removed recently i was told to check for signs of redness, swelling or discharge. the only place there was redness was right alnog the actual incision line. once or twice next to this line looked bright pink & i was worried, so i called the vet. they said if she licks it there will be coloration. so if she kept at it (the rosiness didn’t die down) then she was to come in to get a cone to prevent her from licking. but she never needed it.
i’ve attached a pic of her incision (the best that i had) a day after. the incision is the darkest pink line (no stitches ever showed as they surgically glued together the skin to hid the stitches). the white strip running along the incision was hair regrowth already.
hope some one can better answer if any swelling is normal.
