Here’s Little-Bit’s chronology so far if anyone needs to see it:

        Alright so!

As said, Little-Bit is doing lots better -she stil shakes and scratches her ears occasionally, but the nystagmus she used to have has gone down to not much more than a head bob. (I call it the ‘Stevie Wonder motion’) She’s now been on 1/8 an oral Baytril for nearing 7 weeks, but given the fact that she does still have SOME symptoms, there’s obviously something still plaguing her a bit.

When we first took her to be evaluated and such, she was 16 ounces -since then she’s almost doubled her BMI, topping out at a whopping 1lb 11.5 ounces- and so MY reasoning was that the tiny pills they gave me for her 7 weeks ago may not be as effective anymore given her current BMI. So I took Little-Bit back to the vet today to see if I could have her Baytril dosage updated to knock this thang out.

The good news: They looked in her ears, swabbed them, looked under a microscope, and determined that…YAY! The staph had been completely knocked out! NO MORE staph infection!

The bad news: Said removal of staph bacteria made it possible for yeast to overgrow.

        >< Now they say she has a yeast infection in her ear where the staph started..

So they gave me some ear drops and told me to come back in a week. The ear drops are called “Tresaderm”:

        http://www.petcarerx.com/pcrx/HealthGuide/Medications/Medication.aspx?mid=10740

Ingrediants: Thiabendazole, dexamethasone, and neomycin (from neomycin sulfate)

Inactive ingrediants: glycerin, propelyne glycol, hypophosphorus acid, calcium hypophosphate, ethyl alcohol, and benzl alcohol

Now, it’s OBVIOUS that I absolutely CANNOT let her ingest this stuff, but my question is -is everything else alright? I wasn’t able to find any of these on the house rabbit chart. =S

Well okay, so I found out some information for myself through an expert on allexperts.com.

The drug IS safe for topic use, BUT the cortosteroid agent that’s in it surpresses the immune system…so basically I’ll have to keep a REALLY close eye on her if we use this drug -especially since we haven’t completely ruled out the possibility of E.C. yet.
