you guys, I’m freaked out

So I just saw this post on craigslist that sounded just like my two buns that I rehomed…I’m a little freaked out right now. What will I do if it is them? I set up a fake email asn asked about them. The thing is Im still talking to the girl, and she seems very sneeky now, and everything I gave them it says they come with. WHAT WILL I DO? WHAT CAN I DO?

I would point blank ask her and tell her you’ll take them back!  How awful for you if it is them. People just don’t understand the responsibility!  I’m so sorry for you. You worked so hard in finding what you thought was a good home.

My first impulse was to do a sting operation. but I have to agree with Knowlton, asking point blank is the way to go. I would not be confrontational, just the I understand they were more than you bargained for, I will take them off your hands. She sounds like she is to embarrassed to admit she made a mistake.

well she is being sneaky, I used a fake email address(also being sneaky), and it is her address, I will be adopting them tomorrow through a friend , then I can tell the world about her! i don’t even care that I am paying her $50, I want them to come back with as little pain as possible and as little trouble. On a good note, we may be moving into a much larger 2 floor 4 bedroom apartment…meaning…I may just keep them

 I wish that were the case, but she is the one I have been talking to for 2 months and she runs a rescue, and  she told me they were for her and I asked her over and over again, that they were for her and were not going to be part of her little rescue, and she finally reassured me enough. This is what she does, she preys on people, gets "unwanted animals for a profit", I all ready rescued them, they did not need rescuing again, I was looking for a permant home. Yet here I am rescuing them again……I should have followed my instincs on this, Im so mad at myself for this….

Amy – don’t beat yourself up!  You had no way of knowing this was to happen!  Once you get them back safely I would definitely call her on it and let her know that you know her scheme.  Just be happy you even saw the ad!  I just feel for the little buns who are being shuffled around but at least they will probably remember you.  She is truly the scum of the earth! I hope you keep them…let us know how the "transaction" goes!

I really feel I will be keeping them kow we are moving to a much larger place. And scum of the earth yeh that sounds about right. I’m sure they will remember me, it’s only been a week….tomorrow would be a week and I hear buns have good memories! All I drempt about last night was getting them back (being the worried bun mother that I am), and I can assure you I will be calling her on it, as soon as they are home. My friend that is getting them for me really wants to make a scene, but that’s why I don’t want to be there cuz I am afraid I will make a scene or should isay get violent and i am not a violent person, I meditate and do yoga lol!

i posted in the other thread too… i would not pay her a cent.  i would bring the adoption agreement and the police and demand she return them.  i trust there was something in the agreement saying she has to give them back if she can’t keep them?  i’d also consider legal action.

Good point Beka – if you used a similar adoption agreement from one of the rescues there should be that clause in there about returning them to you if it doesn’t work out. I would remain calm, cool and collected UNTIL you have the kids in your possession!

i agree with both beka & knowltons.  in your shoes i’d want to make an appointment with her under your fake email, go over there & take them back without paying her a thing.  contract or not.  if you didn’t have one i’d claim that the arrangement was understood, being very firm & confident about it by saying some thing like "of course we both know that we had a verbal agreement about this and so you know that taking them back to re-home them is my responsibility."  and then just don’t leave there without the buns.  period. 

i think this tactic – being direct & firm – would work in most cases.  if she’s a real tyrant she could call you to task on in and i’m not sure about what laws apply.  i *think* animals are viewed as property and if she called the police you may have a problem unless you have a written contract.

amy, i’m totally confused between the 2 threads… when you have news could you start a new thread maybe?  to help those of us ::points finger at herself:: who aren’t that quick to follow?  i’d love for you to go over there with your preverbial guns ablaze, but i really just hope you get the buns back into your care!

I almost think though your friend should get them or else bring a big burly man with you (ha ha)!  Things could get very out of hand if you are not careful how you do this.
