Yohio

[Bam]

I lost my dear sweet Yohio on Sept 10. He was a little off in the morning, but ate. His poop was picture-perfect. I thought it was his teeth again. I gave him simethicone and went out and expected him to be alright when I came home. When I came home he wasn’t alright. I fed him Critical Care and he ate it eagerly and drank water. But he didn’t perk up like he always have done. He passed in my arms while I was waiting to be picked up so we could go to the ER vet (I don’t have a car).

I don’t know what took him. His belly wasn’t distended, he’d been his perfectly normal self the night before, ate his dinner in my bed and slept there. 

This is very painful to write about, but I want to tell you guys about it, because Yohio has been here on the forums a lot – from the day I caught him to his first full flop when i thought he was having a seizure and all the way to this last day of his little life. 

I’ve made an album with pics and a short video. The first pic is the first ever pic of him, the day I found him and caught him, April 13 2013. The last pic is the last ever taken of him, he was eating rowan-berries at the foot end of my bed on Aug 29.

My heart has joined the thousands, for my friend stopped running today. (Richard Adams, Watership Down)

Its hard to find the right words. Yohio was a very special bunny, who holds a place in many of our hearts. His lovely colouring brings Rusty to mind, two handsome buns both gone over the rainbow bridge far too young.

Roberta, I remember when Yohio and Pascal were ill at the same time. Your determination when it came to syringe-feeding Pascal helped me a lot when I was struggling to feed Yohio. They were both taken too soon.

I am so grateful that I hat I got to have Yohio in my life. He really seemed to like me. He always sought me out for pets, he’d push his little head in under my foot and demand I pet him. He made me smile 1000 times every day.

bam, I am so so sorry. He was not my bun, but knowing he is gone, it sort of feels like I have lost him. I have seen so many silly stories about Yohio. But you have to remember, he is in a better place, and you will see him again <3

I am so very sorry. Thank you so much for sharing the album. What a gorgeous boy Yohio was. I know he was very lucky to be loved by you. I am sure his life was rich and full of love. Rabbits can baffle us all when things like this happen so unexpectedly. I remember my rabbit-savvy vet once said “It can be one of the biggest heartaches of having a bunny companion.” She was right. This stuff just hurts! I’m so sorry.

Comfort will come in time. The loss never goes away, but you will be able to enjoy the memories without it stabbing so deeply. For now, you are mourning and so get rest and do things that will support healing. Hugs to you!!

He was a special little guy. I’ve got lots to remember him by. Today I put on a fleece jacket that I haven’t worn in a while – there were the loveliest little teeth-marks (=rather big chew-holes) all over it =) Such a clever boy! There was nothing he couldn’t do!
I miss him so.

Oh bam, I’m so sorry. I have tears in my eyes, I feel so awful for you. I understand how it is to have a bunny suddenly pass with no warning. You wrack your brain trying to figure it out but in the end, you are never quite sure.
