I posted this somewhere but I thought I’d post it as a new topic. I use Yesterday’s New’s litter for my bunnies (recycled newspaper pellets), but am not sure if there is a difference between the kinds? I use the kind in the green bag that’s for cats.  They make one in an orange bag for rabbits. Its a little more expensive and only comes in 10 lb bags whereas the cat litter comes in 20 lb bags and is cheaper. I don’t notice a difference except the rabbit litter is smaller pellets. easier for them to eat i guess? which they do sometimes. not sure if that is okay? The rabbits don’t seem to care as long as they can do their business on it. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Is there a difference I’m not seeing? Should I be using the rabbit litter? Has anyon else observed the difference? or are they just trying to make me think I need to buy the pricier stuff? Would appreciate some input. Thanks!

As far as I could tell, there was no difference between the Yesterday’s news for cats and the one for bunnies in the way it performs.  The pellets for the bunny litter are slightly smaller and slightly more expensive.  I just get the cat one.  Cat Country does the same thing, they have Cat Country and Critter Country, which as far as I can tell are identical.  The Cat Country comes with some of the pellets dyed green so you can tell it is the cat product, but other than color it seems identical.  Cat Country and Critter Country are also the same price, except most places do not carry the 40lb bags of Critter Country.

i use an off-brand of yesterday’s news that is available at my local store in gigantic 40 pound bags.  i pour a bunch of it into a plastic container for easy access and store the huge bag out of the way.  i have no problems with it.  i think as long as the litter is safe and meets the requirements, it shouldn’t matter if it’s the cat or bunny version.

I buy Yesterday’s News too. In my area it comes only in green bags: Original and Perfumed. I don’t assume the perfumed variety is very good for bunnies.

Yup I’ve read that they are both the same and just not to use the perfumed kind. Basically the rabbit kind is more expensive since it’s in smaller bags
