Just got the pen yesterday, yay! (It was a little late due to address mix ups.)  But not sure what carpet to put down.

        A) Carpet that has rubber bottom

        B) Linoleum, then fabric on top

        C) Other

What does everyone use?  She’s not completely potty trained (doesn’t pee outside, but not sure how she’d react in the pen compared to just free time.)

Any suggestions on transitioning her from cage to pen?

i use carpet but mine are littertrained. i do *kinda* wish i had linoleum and area rugs over, b/c the carpet is a bit hard to clean as far as picking up hay and fur. with linoleum, you can just sweep out. if you did rag rugs, those can be thrown in the washer when dirty.

as far as transitioning her, you might put her cage inside the xpen, just until she gets used to it.

I would use linoleum with carpet with rubber bottom just to be safe.

Even the rubber bottomed carpet is going to stain if there is a carpet under that carpet.

Do you mean linoleum over the carpet? Rabbits have a harder time getting traction on linoleum since they don’t have any paw pads like other animals – they are all fur.

I have vinyl tiles with mats scattered around and a blanket on there too.  Then on her shelf (her favorite spot) she has carpet.  I am looking to replace the carpet though because she’s not 100% litter trained.  I think I’m going to try to try to find a rag rug to put there instead.  My bun doesn’t seem to have a problem with linoleum but she does prefer to have a comfy spot.

The carpet with the rubber back..is it washable?  I have a few like that and they can just be tossed in the washing machine.  If so I’d say that’d probably work out really well.  But if not..I’d hold off on that until after she’s litter trained.

I put a big out door rug down and the X-pen on top of it, she gets good traction and it has no sticking up fibers that would tempt her to chew, I heard you could put doggie wee wee pads down underneath the rug so it does not stain the floor if she does pee on it. Linoleum would work too. BEWARE I found that fern loves to chew AND EAT the edges of the linoleum… I have about a hundred binder clips around the edges of the linoleum to prevent further chewing. Although now she has taken to chewing the pillowcases in her cage….. (I hate rabbit puberty)

oh a sisal rug would be perfect if they are 100% the rubber backed rug was easy to clean, just swept it off. any accedents i just used the carpet cleaner on. if you dont have a carpet cleaner i bet just blotting it up would work too!
