Wrigley is doing better.  He’s eating all the romaine and a ok amount of hay.  Finally drinking somewhat regularly. He seems to be better balance wise. He still stumbles a little bit, but he’s much better than a week ago.  Uhgg…..we’re sill waiting on the E.col.  blood test to get back.  Does it normally take a week for that test???

He still has the head tilt. I have been gently giving him neck rubs every night. Really until tonight, I wasn’t sure if he liked it or not.  Tonight, I stopped and he moved to my hand and laid down.  So does anyone have a good muscle view of a rabits neck muscle arrangment.  I want to make sure I’m rubbing the right area and giving him the best relief I can.

        Thanks

        Chris

P,S,   He;s getting much stongers and much harder to hold during Medicine time..    I guess thats a good thing though,

EC titers do take awhile to get back since only certain clinics in the US do this test so a week sounds reasonable.

I’m not certain of your other question though about neck muscles so I would ask the vet about this.

          Glad he is getting stronger!

Basically where are the muscles that are causing the head tilt. Are they the group higher up or further down side of the neck? Those are the ones I’m trying to loosen up.

i think you could do a light massage all around that area. it’s quite possible that many of those muscles are involved to some extent. you want to be very gentle, it’s not a full kneading massage like in people or even larger animals, too much pressure can cause more problems. more like a petting but with slight fingertip pressure. absolutely talk to your vet and get their persepective on this, they might be able to show you a spot specificlly to focus on.

I know there is a rabbit massage book out- but I have not seen the book personally.  Maybe someone here has it and can let us know if it has a neck muscle chart/diagram/special section and if there are any suggestions.

I have a rabbit massage book titled The Relaxed Rabbit by Chandra Moira Beal, RMT & Maia (rabbit).  There is a section on rabbit anatomy that discusses muscles and nerves and also talks about the Tellington Touch.  Chris, if you have a rabbit rescue nearby, check them out to see if they offer massages or classes on massage or T-Touch for your rabbit.  Are your rubbing back and forth or in circles?  If you are rubbing in circles are you rubbing clockwise or counter-clockwise?

                    Here are some references:

I am having a tough time digging up a good picture.  I thought I had a link, but I cannot locate it.
