I got home today and felt something weird on my bunnies skin. I looked and saw this. The only evidence I found was one small piece of fur under my bed with a little flesh or blood on it. She’s acting normal and not acting like it hurts. I bought some Vetericyn Plus antimicrobial wound care and spray some on like it said. After it dried up and all the wound looked slightly different. Can anybody confirm this is in fact a wound or is it maybe a skin issue like mites or infection? I’m not sure when this happened but I only noticed it this evening.

It is on her “shoulder” area, a little behind her head. I thought maybe she could’ve done this scratching herself, I recently cut her nails so they aren’t over grown.

Attached 1st is a photo of what it looked like when I first noticed it, 2nd the only piece of fur I found with blood, and 3rd what it looks like currently after spraying the wound care on it.

Is she with another rabbit? This looks like aggressive mounting.

It looks like the top layer of skin was pulled off with the fur, so the area will be raw. You should try to clean it up as best you can. It’s safe to use plain Neosporin (no pain reliever) to help prevent infection. Depending on how bad it is, a vet may need to make sure nothing needs to be stitched.

No she isn’t with another rabbit, I only have her.

Luckily to me it doesn’t look like a deep wound, just kind of surface level.

I’ll have to get some plain Neosporin to use then!
