Growing up my stepmom was involved in an animal shelter with cats and dogs only. We had a number of animals from cats, dogs, lizards, turtles, birds, etc. We had a bun once, he was BIG and had lop ears. I think he was dumped at the shelter and my sucker of a stepmom brought him home. lol We didnt keep him long because he ate through cords and everything else. He was so large (at least 10lb) and with dogs it just didnt work. So we gave him to one of my teachers who had rabbits.
Fast forward from then around age 13 to now (28) my first rabbit was 4 yrs ago. I have horrible allergies and have asthma attacks from cats and dogs (growing up I got used to our own without issue). I begged my then boyfreind (now husband) for some kinda furry animal. lol I was fascinated with rabbits and we got Carrera as a baby and from the first day she owned our home.
Now we have three buns and working in a shelter I can play with more buns that arent mine but I can spoil them as I wish. We are planning to adopt a fourth bun because Carrera is obviously unhappy being alone seeing Pookie and Cooper playing together.
We dont have children yet but even if we do rabbits have become such a huge part of our life I dont think I could ever give them up. Dont take me wrong, kids or no kids my buns would never be removed from my home for a baby. We would just learn to adapt. They are so comical and they love to show off. My husband swears cats arent as fun. lol Even he is whipped by all the fur in our house.
Seeing where you are now with your own buns, would you ever live without a fuzzy bun in your home? God forbid something happen to the bun(s) you have now, would you get more?
