LOL-that’s my favorite saying my parent’s used to use on me when I was whining ![]()
Anyways, I’ve noticed another thing most (or alot of us) have in common…We seem to be wine drinkers ![]()
I never, never drank wine, until I managed a liquor store…then I tried some at a tasting and sort of started drinking wine…I still can’t touch red-My pallette is far from sophisticated enough to drink red wine!!
My favorite is blush wines, toping the chart: EJ gallo white zinefendel, and Beringer sparkling blush wine.
For whites, I like sweet german whites like Dr. ZenZen in the blue bottle and any Piesporter. My favorite sparkling white is Asti Martini, It’s a spumante (8 sweetness) and tastes appley and I love it ![]()
What are your favorite wines?? ![]()
oooh i love wine too. it’s my drink of choice (aside from water that is) but i am far from an aficionado. i started out liking only white / rose / sparkling wines that were really sweet but have morphed into preferring chiraz or merlot or cabernet sauvignon. i have no idea what kind goes best with what food or what makes a good wine. i just like red wine. i didn’t for a while but one time was at a friend’s place & tried some with some sharp cheddar & crackers & suddenly i liked the taste. red wine is also great for camping because it doesn’t need to be chilled ![]()
Wine & Beer are major downfalls for me! I am actually a sommelier and chef of wine arts.
I have been lucky enough to taste some wines that cost about $500 (dollars) a bottle – but, typically I buy the stuff that is under $10.
I like all different kinds of wine. I tend to drink more red in the Winter, more white in the Spring & Fall and Old World Rose (fruity & dry, not sweet) in the Summer.
While I believe a beautiful meal pared with just the right wine can be a wonderful experience – a meal is really more about a chance to connect with friends & family. Therefore – don’t worry about what wine goes with what food – if you like it, drink it and enjoy!
I like white wines, the dryer the better. Chardonnays mostly, but I like some Sauvignon Blancs too. Living in California there is such a dizzying variety of wines to choose from, I usually just get the one that is on sale. There is a winery called “Rabbit Ridge” that not only has an awesome bunny logo, it also makes a fairly good but a little expensive Chardonnay.

i dont drink anymore (cuz im trying to be healthy, im already overweight i didnt want to reck my liver as well lol) but i used to enjoy a nice glass of white, i hate red >.< too strong for me i dont know why people just dont neck a bottle of vinegar and have done with it,
I can’t do red either – I’m definitely a white zinfandel type of girl…
Has anyone had Rock Rabbit wine? It’s really good!
[script removed]
I don’t care too much for the French Rabbit wines though…

I can’t drink red because it’s bad for my kidneys, but I really prefer white anyway. I went through a blush period (mostly Zinfandel) but moved away from it. I like a light wine, fairly dry. Always bought the Californians until a few years ago I started trying the Aussies (People were recommending Yellow Tail.) Good.
To be honest, after hating the smell as a teen, I’ve ended up with beer as my drink of choice. Sam Adams put Massachusetts on the map, though I like a good old fashioned Miller too. Knew a few people who home brewed in their basements – not bad at all!
Don’t drink alcohol here at all.
Oh yes I am a wine connosseur!
My favorite is Malbec from Argentina! It’s a red wine FYI. I do not like sweet wines like blush or the citrus ones say from New Zealand. I like drier wines and mostly a cabernet, malbec, or savignon blanc are my favorite choices. The locales I rely heavily on are California, Washington, Argentina and Italy. I am *gasp* not a fan of French wine.
A few favorite vintners and vineyards: Robert Hall, Fetzer & Bealieu Brothers.
K & K Martini & Rossi Asti!!!! LOVE it for a Sunday morning brunch of croissants, brie and fresh fruit in mimosas!
Try it with passion fruit juice instead of OJ!
Being of French descent, even when I was little there was always a small glass of port at my place at table. We had a very old family of which I was third generation born here and it was considered good for your digestion and food, not necessarily anything else to it.
But since I am on certain medications since my cancer diagnosis, I am not supposed to drink. Every once in a while I sneak a sip or two here or there, but I don’t enjoy it like I used to.
My favorite Beringer wine when I was younger was their Malvasia. My dad would mix it with a little 7UP and strain it into a dainty glass for me from a clear pitcher. I always had to eat something with it though, (usually Planter’s peanuts), and he taught me to ‘drink properly’ so that I could enjoy the taste and the benefits of wine without getting drunk. So I never had the urge to get plowed. ^_^
Moet is my favorite champagne. And I enjoyed the occasional zinfandel. But my all time favorite drink is a Scotch Old Fashioned or a nice Irish coffee or Bailey’s at St. Patrick’s Day time.
On the whole though, I can take it or leave it.
I NEED a glass of wine every night at around 5pm just before I have to do the dinner, bath and bed thing with the kids…just gets me through! I like Sav blanc semillions. i like sweet wines. In winter I tend to drink more reds.
i like a nice christmas wine for sitting round the fire type gatherings, its my fav time of year
We bought a bottle of Rabbit Ridge when we were in California not long ago, basically for the label! Not bad stuff.
Ooo I had a GREAT wine tour in sunny CA Cambria. My Favorite there was the Robert Hall winery and Doce Robles.
Oooh my kinda topic … I am a great wine drinker … love our Australian wines. However, I do drink a bit too much particularly on weekends as I just love to socialise.
My fav at the moment is the Houghton’s Classic White or the West Cape Howe SSB, but New Zealand also have some very nice whites too.
In the cooler months (which is coming up here in Perth), I just love the Cabernet Sauvignon … Houghton, Capel Vale or Goundrey range.
I am also a fan of Rose blends particularly nice to drink on our hot summer nights.
The concept of a favorite wine is a tough one for me – there are just too many out there I have not tried yet! I drive my husband crazy – he tries something he likes and he wants to stick with it. I am always bringing home different wines.
I highly recommend y’all try out some Spanish wines! In Spain they do not release a wine for sale until it is ready to drink. They tend to be very inexpensive & very food friendly – you get a lot of bang for the buck!
Australia & New Zealand wines are getting better and better all the time!
Funny tid bit for all you White Zinfandel drinkers: I use to make fun of y’all – Then I found out that California almost ripped out all of it’s Zinfandel grapes about 20 years ago – because they could not sell the red wine they were making from it. Luckily some one came up with the idea for a sweet white Zinfandel – and the grapes were saved. So, now, I am thankful.
how much would u guys say is the perfect price for a wine? whats too cheap thats its going to be swill and so expensive it should be liquid gold? Ideal price for the best of wines?
There are a lot of great wines out there for $10 and under.
Here are a few I have gotten lately:
Spanish: Finca Luzon – $8, Osborn Shiraz Temparnio – $7
Australian: Sho Fly (Several variety’s) – $10 Outback Chase Shiraz – $7
California: Insatiable White California Wine (the blend) – $6, Pepperwood (Several variety’s) – $5
Italian: Tiamo Pino Grigio – $8
Now for a special occasion I am happy to spend $20 – $50 on a bottle.
I got to try a 1850 Madeira once – not a typo – it was over 150 years old. I don’t know how much it cost. I’m guessing it was in the $600 range. Yea, it was liquid gold!
I’d say if your paying less then six or so bux (on sale) a bottle it’s probably not that good, but I wouldn’t for over more then twenty….(someone else can pay if it’s going to be *that* pricey lol
)
Does anyone remember Boones Farm Apple Wine? It was like $3 for a huge jug. It was popular with college kids, though you really had to be drunk already to stand it. UGH!!! Ah, to be young with a cast iron stomach….
its probably not as bad as boxed wine. I never knew wine could come in a box before college. Now I know why it shouldn’t.
ahh yes Boones Farm the hobo wine. lol. yes I remember it High School. oh and Coors lol. we started early in louisiana lol legal age was 18. was easy to get into bar at 16 those were the days oh and it is legal in louisian if you didn’t finish your drink and have to leave the bar to get it to go. no kidding. our miami hurricanes played a game there some years ago and they were all pumped up about that. and can walk in public with it too. in New Orleans not like here. in florida. I like reds and champagne. umm. however can’t drink no more my religion and meds. keep me away from it. oh yes I remember too Dad had some friends who made their own as well.
